  • I think you can also use hair removal creams with the Boots system. WHen I had salon IPL I know you definatly can use the creams to remove the hair inbetween sessions. This might be better than shaving for you

Having had it now I would not pay over £300 for it. It works in some areas of the body and not in others. In the areas it does seem to work hair returns after you stop treatment.

If your prepared to keep using it to keep it at bay and take the risk then go for it.

Ok let me get my little book out ... ;-)

    Area's of treatment are thus:

    Chin:

Treatment started on 8th May 2009 and I continued with noticeable difference for 19-20 weeks. At this point I then got married so I plucked all of the hairs out so I was completely hair free and didn't have to worry about stubble from shaving it. Over the wedding honeymoon I was hair free here and it did not return until 3 weeks later. I have been doing 6-12 week treatments (depending on whats happening) since and have then plucked. Each time I pluck I am hair free for between 10 days - 3 weeks. I figured if it did nothing in those first 20 weeks then nothing was going to happen at all and there fore it is best to pluck and be hair free for a few weeks than nothing at all. I don;t know why I still use BSS here - desperation? Who knows ...

    Under Chin:

A much better response here within a matter of weeks. I have used it since the same date 8th May 2009 until now. I noticed a difference within the first 6 weeks and was hair free around 14 weeks I think. I have still been doing weekly treatments to keep this at bay but I am now going to fortnightly treatments. I did miss a few weeks when I was a way and it did come back lightly but soon went after I restarted the treatment.

    Arm pits:

Treatment started on 22 May 2010. I have just completed 35 weeks of treatment. (Still going weekly) Hair reduction noticed after about 6 weeks or so I think. Hair has only reduced here by about 60%. The rest just won't budge. Sometimes looks like it has a bit then comes back by the week after. Almost about to give up on this one I think ...

    Around Nipples:

Reduction from week one. A few have grown back but after being zapped straight away went again. Treatment started on 5th June 2009 and have been going for 28 weeks. Area is reduced a few came back but soon went again. I am now down to fortnightly treatments on this area to keep them at bay but I notice more are coming so I may need to go back to weekly. I'll give it a bit more and see first. I would say 99% - 100% reduction in this area.

Line down tummy to pubic bone:

Treatment started on 10th December 2009. Have completed 15 weeks. Treatment difference noticed after about 2-3 weeks. All hair reduced. Again comes back if you miss a week or 2. Am doing fortnightly treatments to keep at bay. Same sort of result as nipples with this area.

    Legs:

I have only just started in this area on 3rd February 2010. I have only completed 2 treatments on each leg and have noticed a hair reduction of about 30% thus far. Blooming should be too as this is the most boring and irritating area to do!

    Bikini Line:

Treatment started on 22nd March 2010. Completed only 2 weeks here also. Reduction by about 15-20% thus far.
I have fair to medium to skin. Mostly fair and medium in areas where I have a light tan. I have very thick coarse dark hair. I started using BSS in May 2009. So almost 1 year now.

After the first couple of treatments to test my tolerance to the thing (1st week dark, 2nd medium) I then settled on the highest setting fair for all treatments. I didn't get red skin or react in any way so went for the full monty lol. The gel lasts for ages I still haven't finished the 1st tube! So where for me and BSS? I think its ok to help in some areas. My main area of concern was my chin and neck and then to try on my legs and underarms. Under arms and chin I am disappointed with. Under chin im delighted! It's gone but it's a pain to have to do regular treatments to keep it at bay. Same for the nipples and tummy - fantastic! But annoying to keep it at bay. The rest of it i'm only just starting with really so will see how it goes. I think I will stop treating my under arms and reduce when I treat my chin area. Shame on this i'm so desperate to be rid of this hair I look like a man! Still plucking in between seems to help for now. Not too sure what else to do with it tbh.

    Right that's your lot ;-)

aww .. thank you so mych Rebekah!! , that was really helpful :) , the areas i want to use it for are:

Arm pits, bikini line, pubic area , legs , tummy and around the nipples

    .. thats all

So when you say (35 weeks of treatment) do you mean you had 35 sessions???

In some areas like , thigh and tummy and around nipples i dont have dark hair i'm worried if i shave them they'll grow darker and the treatment wont work:eek::eek: .. if you know what i mean :(

but i rather use the machine every month or so rather than using the epilator every week (so painful)

Rebekah as you have been using it for so long and in all those areas, have you had to get a new hand set yet? Also how have you managed to keep using the first tube of gel for so long? I used my first tube after about six treatments of bikini and under arms:(! How much gel do you use??

Wow lol. I don't use much at all. Just enough to cover a thin layer on my skin.

No new handset yet. Not sure if it's on it's way out yet or not though as occassionally when I put it on I get a 2 flashing lights - 1 red 1 yellow I think. But turning it off and back on again seems to reset it and then its ok for a few weeks.

I'm gonna keep using it til it dies a real death :rotfl:

Yes 35 sessions weekly. So over 35 weeks.

I would say in theory if the hair isnt dark, you shave and it, then goes dark, it should work. As it tends to work best on darkest hair.
