On my return I did some reading about this and found that Philips had launched a similar product in Spain about a year or 18 months ago and this had to be recalled because of so many complaints and burns on people. Also Philips Lumea can't be used on the face, which is now the only area I am treating on a regular basis - Underarms and Bikini are virtually hair free:T:j. I have also found that the power in Lumea is much less than in the Boots Smoothskin and so it only knocks out the hair temporarily and does not kill it, so in effect it is like "Photo waxing", it will need to be used every two weeks for the rest of your life! The other BIG issue is that after paying all that money for Lumea, when it has used all its flashes you get to THROW IT AWAY and have to buy another one - there are no replacement bulbs!
On balance looking at the price, the fact it needs to be used every 2 weeks for life and the fact that once the flashes are used you throw it away - I think that the Boots Smooth skin is better value and its a greener more environmentally friendly product, as you can get replacement handsets.
I've seen it in Boots shop right next to BOOTS SMOOTH SKIN it costs £399 !! .
btw, how long have you been hair free since your last treatment ? and how many sessions did you have for each area in total?0 -
Thats good , altough i thought i just need six session to be completley hair free.
Does it worth it £325 ! do you think it will go on sale by any chance??
one more quesion can you use it in the pubic area from the back if you know what i mean?0 -
what can you use in the 'pubic' area? It is just waxing there?0

You definately can't use it on the delicate area that you are suggesting, this area is mucus membrane and it is not reccomended, I think it would be far too painful and could cause damage.
Can't say if it will go on sale, but I think Boots may put it on £50 off again soon.
I'm glad you've had success with this, but I thought I should point out that the hair loss isn't actually permanent. It certainly wasn't for me, and I used it correctly for far longer than the prescribed number of treatments. All of the hair has now grown back, unfortunately.
Others who have experienced success have had to perform maintenance treatments once a month or so.0 -
oh .. i wanted it for specially those areas .. TOO BAD!
I want to get once its on sale do you guys have any idea when will it be on saleIt certainly wasn't for me, and I used it correctly for far longer than the prescribed number of treatments. All of the hair has now grown back,..

I bought mine last year, end of april time, and probably did about 8 sessions on bikini, stomach line and underarms. Underarms never showed much of a result for me but bikini and stomach were pretty much done when I left it last year. The hair has grown back since (I've had a busy year and have been unable to keep up treatments) but 2 weeks ago I did a treatment on the bikini and stomach line, and it seems the areas have a good 'memory' so to speak, and the hair has dramatically shed again from just that one treatment, I think a couple more and I'll be hair free for a while again. Which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned, I don't mind having to 'top-up' every couple of months or so, because previously I would have spent a lot more time (and pain) removing the hair through other methods, on a daily/weekly basis.0lbs/18lbs to get to club 100

Hi All,
someone really needs to help me as I think Ive mutilated myself beyong repair.
So I bought this system a couple weeks ago and yesterday was the second time i used it. The first time, last saturday was fine. This time I used a brown eye liner pencil to mark my body (armpits, bikini and little line of hair from belly-button to bikini and UPPER LIP!!!). I know the manual says WHITE pencil but I obviously didnt think about the difference and just used what I had.
I had a shower today and have noticed that I have literally burned the pencil track-marks into my skin like tattoo. My body looks like a crossword grid as, I think the IPL has imprinted the dark pencil lines into my skin.
The marks are red/brown burns (like a sunburn).
I have light skin and dark hair so I used the "fair" mode on the system.
Someone please please PLEASE tell me if there is anything I can to about these burns to help them fade??
I obviously cant use the machine again until they have cleared (if they clear).
Will this be permenant? ie will the pencil have attracted the light like a pigment - in which case im scarred) or was it a light that was too strong for the "dark" skin it penetrated.
Sorry of this is slightly incoherent but im PANICKING . HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP:mad:0 -
Get one of those exfoliating gloves and rub over with that. Then moisturize well.0

I think, as you suspected, that the dark pencil attracted the light (energy) and have you a series of slight burns. I'd be wary of trying to exfoliate at the moment. Treat as a burn and within a couple of days reassess the situation. I'm confident you'll recover and not be scarred.0

I was using it to get rid of brown spots on my hands and had the same "like burns" and exfoliating and then putting E45 cream worked for me .0
