    Hi all,

I did my fourth session last night on my underarms and on close inspection today I noticed thats I have alot of fine blonde hairs, which I think used to be dark hairs. It doesn't appear that any hair has completely gone, just some has been replaced with blonde hair. I am a bit worried now that I might be stuck with the blonde hair as SS is only supposed to work on dark hair. Has this happened to anyone else and has the hair eventually gone?

I have also noticed that my right underarm has much more fine and blonde hair then my left. I always do the right side first so I wonder if this is why, although I would have thought it would have been more effective after it had been used for a while.

I've been reading everyone's progress with a lot of interest as recently bought one of these myself. I have to say I wasn't too convinced initially but after owning up to hubby that I had spent so much (well I didn't come completely clean as said it was £200....I paid £249.99 oops) I got started.

After only a couple of sessions zapping BL many of the hairs are starting to come out if pulled gently, and also some of those on my inner thighs (where they were a bit darker), so I am really pleased with progress.

Haven't noticed much difference on my armpits yet, nor lower leg area although the hair doesn't seem to be growing back as quickly. So there you go it DOES work, money well spent in my opinion!

Yes it is boring to do but persevere and the results will speak for themselves. The thought of not having to shave / wax / tweezer ever again (hopefully) is keeping me going!! Good luck people.

    Feline princess,
I would hazard a guess that the hairs you are seeing now are velus hairs whcih won't have been affected by the treatment.
Its unlikely you would have noticed them before due to them being lost in the majority of darker hairs and the fact that they would have been removed along with the other hairs with your usual hair removal techniques.

These hairs can become darker and thicker under the influence of hormones which is why ladies seem to get hairier as they get to a "certain age".

This is also one of the reasons why these type of treatments only offer hair reduction as these hairs can change at any time and will need removal.

Also hairs have a set growth cycle and at any point in time most hairs are dormant and resting in the skin. Only active hairs can be killed by this type of treatment and this is why these type of treatments seem to need a long period to work.

Thanks! This is re assuring to know, I was getting worried that my BSS might not have been money well spent after all!

The other thing that needs to be taken into account is the growth cycle of hair. Only actively growing hair will be killed by this treatment.

I have read that only about 30% of hairs are in this phase at any one time. The rest are either dormant in the skin or have started to die, but are still attached to the skin and are waiting to be shed.

I think thats why you need to give this sort of treatment a good few cycles to make noticeable inroads into the hairs as its easy to think that the regrowth is previoulsy treated hairs.

Before I bought one of these I had salon IP (when I could afford it ) and I would say it took 5 treatments to make a noticeable effect.

When I had these the treatment it was recomended to have it on a monthly cycle, now I don't know if that was becasue they were hiring the IPL machine and only had it one or 2 days a month and wanted to maximise their revenue or whether there was a more scientific reason.

I suppose there must be an optimium period which ensures that you catch the new hairs as they begin to grow and before they start to die.

Since I bought mine my experiences have been identical to the Salon IPL regarding sensation and shedding of hairs.

However I havent been strictly sticking to the weekly treatment as I havent had too many new hairs growing in the period and given the limited lifespan of the head I don't really want to wear it out unnecessarily. I would say I am on a 2 weekly to 3 weekly cycle.

    Hello there,

Bought a BSS about a month ago now, and only used for two treatments. The test patch I did on my leg is definitely noticeable now, and that area was only done once.

Just a quick question...does anybody else's machine's ready button flash inbetween each 'click' of the handset? I just took one back because it was flashing ten times before it would 'register' and allow me to click on the next area. This was during the second session, right from the begginning, this didn't happen on my first session. Now I've just tried out my new one, and it seems to flash a few times between each click. Is this normal? It doesn't refer to it in the book other than the machine stopping to cool down after 50 flashes and 200 flashes.

    Hi

Thanks for posting your results, it's good to hear! Quick question - since the hair has gone from your legs, do you still get a 'stubbly' appearance on them?

After shaving, I am left with black dots in the pores on my legs and wanted to know if the SS would get rid of this as well?

    Cheers
I've read the whole thread (very informative, thank you ladies :) ) and I would like to know the answer to bosie84's question (quoted above) too.

Incidentally I came across this, the results of the studies done by ipulse for boots on this product. I thought they might possibly be of interest to someone.
Also on the ipulse website they make mention of marketing this to consumers other than through Boots in the near future.

    Hey Guys!

Completed my 5th treatment last night. Oh caught me at it and sat on the bed and decided now he was interested in reading the book to see what it's meant to do!

He was shocked at me going against what your not supposed to do - use during period, use when your tierd (this was 1am lol) or use when your stressed (planning a quick wedding who wouldn't be!)

Any ways 5th treatment on my chin and under chin, 3rd treatment on my armpits, and my 1st treatment around my nipples.

The hair on my chin and under chin is definately growing slower now. I am using medium setting here and on my armpits. Not noticed anything on those yet. I think on my chin and under chin that a few hairs may have done but there is so much of it here that tbh I can't really tell yet. Armpits no change.

You should have seen the sight of me doing my nipples LOL! I had loads of tiny stickers all one side and they kept trying to fall off. Took ages. Then after that side I gave up and decided to hunt down some white card. I cut out a half round shape and just used that round it 4 times. (This makes no sense!) LOL. Either way it was a nightmare very fiddly!!But not at all painful. So very fun lol but so far not really noticing much. Hope I do soon as I'm beginning to looes the will to live!
