    Hi all

Well must be on week 8 or 9 by now. I have lost count because it is so time consuming !! I do underarms, bikini line, and 1 lower leg a week because it's the legs that take so long. I am noticing a reduction in growth, I do not have to shave until I do the blitz !! but I can feel a slight stubble starting to form, I really do hope that this will stop but it is loads better than it was.
My most dissapointing area is the face, I have only managed to remove 2 hairs from my chin. I am lucky in that I only have about 4 or 5 left but it is not working at all there. I have been doing it about 3 times a week (I really know I shouldn't ) I have about 5 or 6 hairs in total on my lip that won't go either. These hairs are very bristly so I don't know if that makes a difference. They are dark though but perhaps not black, I plucked a couple out today just to make sure they had a colour.
I wonder if this is what they mean by hormonal ??? although the hair on legs, underarm is dark it is not as stubbly/bristly as the face ones. How sad.......

Has anyone had any luck with the bristly face hair ???

Hi all, I'm new, have joined especially to ask for some advice about this IPL thing. I have been saving up for Aaaaages to get lazer hair removal and then saw this when i was in boots yesterday and spent all last night looking into it online and reading nearly all of this thread.

I do have a question though and I'm sorry if it has been asked before but I havent seen it...

I have been waxing my legs and bikini line regularly for over 10 years, the hair is very dark and i am very fair skinned, but it already only grows back in patches and is not as course as it used to be. I havent shaved any of these areas for so many years and am worried that I may be making matters worse by having to shave before I use the IPL.

Has any one else had any experience with using it after being a regular waxer?? can you still have waxing inbetween if neccessary?

    Thank you :-) xx

It sounds like you are describing me actually!

To be honest though, shaving doesn't actually stimulate hair growth - it's an old wives tale. It is just that you are cutting across the hairs and it gives them the appearance of being coarser and thicker. Hairs are already dead so there is no way that cutting them by shaving will make new hairs grow in the bald patches.

Actually, what you could do is just start using it a week or so after waxing. It apparently works best on hairs in the growing phase, so it should kill them as they start to grow back - if any 'escape' you would then have to shave them though.

Anyway, I have had such good results from the Boots thing that I have hardly had to shave any bits of my bikini line at all since starting the treatments as it seems to work really well for me. After 5 treatments (each about 2 weeks apart as I can't find the time to do it more often), there are only a few patches of hair left on my BL. I am now working down the inner thigh and back of thigh areas (tricky to reach) and starting on the underarms.

I am thrilled with the results so far, which more than makes up for how tedious it is to do!

By the way - took me a while to track this thread down as it's been moved. I would have preferred it to stay where it was as it is of interest for people thinking of buying it - which is why I posted it there in the first place.

    Hi all,

I have to say I'm a bit envious of everyone else getting much quicker results then me! I have done 5 sessions on my underarm hair and will be doing the 6th tonight, the hair is almost gone on one underarm and about half left on other (despite equal number of treatments!) I didn't have a huge amount of hair in the 1st place and I have been using the fair setting so kinda thought I would be hair free a bit quicker. Oh well, as long as I get there I don't mind!

  • Thanks for the reply and advice, think I'm sold!! lol

its about the price I was going to pay for one session at a salon (for legs I think) so it has to be worth a try!

FelinePrincess I feel the same as you. If anyone asked me if its worth buying, at this moment i would say no as i really cant see any improvement or really not enough after using it for 5 weeks . And most other areas it doesn't even do anything, if anything i find it makes the hairs grow faster and no amount of zapping are they disappearing ,
Under arm hair i think is much less thats about all !

Imho, thanks for your reply. I'm not sure whether I should be pleased that someone else is having the same experience or not. On one hand it's good to know I'm not the only one, therefore not doing something wrong but I'm slightly worried that maybe we are a small minority who it doesn't work on as well? On paper I should be the ideal candidate as my skin is completely white, I do wear fake tan between treatments but I scrub it off the area completely before treating.

I'm not a very hairy person so I don't understand why it's being so stubborn!

Same here for now. Just had my 6th week today on my chin and under chin area. Think it maybe making a difference under my chin but not too sure yet. Hair is growing a bit slower.

My 4th week on my underarms (well hurts to do this!) same no difference I don't think. Maybe ever so slightly slower.

And my second week on my around nipple area. Sorry if tmi! :o

So far I wouldn't recommend it. And am hoping I see results now i'm over 6 weeks of useage. I am beginning to get a bit disheartened but trying to remind myself its only 6 weeks - so half way through the potential. So I shouldn't really begin to see anything until after now any way.

    Well we plod on ladies!
