Anyone tried Boots 'Smooth Skin' home IPL hair reduction system yet?

Has anyone tried colouring blonde hair to see if it will then remove that - got blonde hairs that I'd like to get rid of lip and chin area - other areas are dark so should work ok for there. I did have IPL when it first came out and though hairs went initially they have grown back after a couple of years.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Hi Skintlass, I have been wondering that too as I have blonde hair on my legs which I would really like to get rid of. It probably wouldn't be too difficult to dye the hair on your lip and chin to try (although you would want to remove it straight after!) but I think it would probably be alot of hassle to dye my legs and I don't know if I could be bothered. Do you think the dye would stain your skin at all?

Hi FP, I would think the dye wouldn't stain your legs as long as you got some specific dye - tbh I was thinking of eyebrow dye for the blonde face hair but you'd need an awful lot for your legs:eek:.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

First fault was it stopped working and all the lights started flashing, which it says in the book to take it back. Then the 2nd fault was on the the replacement machine was the smell of burning plastic when I fired each shot. Then the smell would go away until I fired the next shot. I hadn't experienced this in the 8 weeks ive been using the bss, so I took it back. I didn't want it going up in flames!!! I hope the one I got now is ok. I wanna get all my bits zapped & sorted before the guarantee is up!!!
I sometimes think its me causing things to go wrong because I generally have strange things happen to electrical equipment/lights etc when i'm near them. :rotfl:Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0 -
tiamaria the first few times i done it on my hands the brown spots went really dark brown but they are much lighter now.Think i have done 4-5 sessions on them now.I read somewhere on internet that IPL helps remove these brown spots.
Thanks though it does say not to be used on moles etc - still tempted though! Kill 2 birds with one stone lol0 -
I am now on about week 7 and lower legs are totally hair free, as are underarms. I was a waxer before but hair always grew back in abundance within 2 weeks so I have noticed a considerable difference. Have not waxed since the week after I began and legs have been out in short skirts for last 2 weeks. Odd hair keeps popping through and I now just zap the individuals. Sounds like it worked for me - sorry others have not had so much success. I have v dark hair - maybe that is why?
I have notived that after I sat in the sun last week, I have patches of brown pigmentation on my legs in the small rectangular shapes of the head of the IPL gun. Has anyone else sat in the sun. I may stop now until the autumn as we are off to Spain soon and I can guarantee we will be in the sun there. Would welcome others experiences and advice.0 -

No darkness on root = No zapped root.
P.S. They should be launching the model for some of the darker skinned ladies soon. - Allegedly*Make every day Caturday*0 -

I've been following this thread with interest and have a couple of questions.
Is this like the Rio Laser hair removal system whre you only treat one hair at a time? I have this but have given up as it seems to be taking ages and couldn't see any results.
How long does the gel last, ie how many treatments do you gte out of a tube?
I'm trying to decide whether to fork out or not but its up to £299.99 now.
TIALife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
Hi Asset 2004,
I have done 6 sessions on underarms and 2 sessions on bikini line, I have been applying a generous amount of gel and I expect one tube will be all I need. If you are planning on doing your legs as well I expect they will use quite a bit but I think it is only £2.99 per tube so not too expensive if you do need more.
