I was feeling all disheartened about Dooyoo yesterday. Logged in to find a crown today and suddenly I feel so much better!
How fickle am I?! :rolleyes:0 -
Ahh all things seem to have settled down a bit now, and I seem to be getting the hang of the reviewing! Congrats on your crown jo_b

The problem is that some new members don't like to receive anything else than Very Useful on their reviews and thats when the problem starts. Its a lot better to just read the site rules, something Mattygroves has already stated on the first page of this thread.
Crucially if you don't like reading or writing, then forget the whole idea of Dooyoo; financially it will not benefit you in the long run.
Not meaning to post a shameless plug, but I did also cross post the advice I gave at the beginning of this thread, combined with a few other posts I made here and some new stuff into a review in the Advice for New Member section, but you're absolutely right - reading the site rules is a very, very good start.
Do keep in mind that the site rules are a starting point though - there are other things to keep in mind that will help you to enter into the spirit of the community - things like reading and rating (fairly), not taking offence at any rates below a VU and so forth.
Enjoy - that's the main point - if you're enjoying it, as a hobby that happens to pay a little bit, you're onto a winner, and chance are, you are treating the community the way you like to be treated!

Yes, the two biggest unofficial things I can say is:
1) Get into the spirit of the site and you'll do well
2) There's no need for over-reaction if something goes wrong... we're all meant to be mature adults.
Sadly, recently, the amount of immature adults on Dooyoo seems to be on the rise.0 -
I'm find this site really useful and i'm enjoying reading peoples reviews. I was just wondering how to maxium reads for your reviews. I've written 10 reviews now since joining on the 16th so i've submitted roughly 1 review a day most have been getting very useful ratings and a few postive comments but most aren't recieving more than 10-15 reads the max 1 is 20. Where am I going wrong? I have been trying to read and learn from reviews i've currently read 153 reviews.
Can anyone make any suggestions? Am I choosing the wrong products to review I have been reviewing mostly internet sites or baby/kids products for the moment. For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0 -
If you have read 153 reviews and have received about 10 to 15 reviews for each of your 10 reviews written, then I would conclude your rates given and rates received is about equal? This seems fair enough to me; do you think you ought to have more reads received than given?
Being equal is about the bare minimum that is acceptable to most members of the dooyoo community. If you maintain stats below that many members will just not read you. You don't need to return a read for everyone that reads you, but it is important in the dooyoo world to show that you are reading *somebody*.
I have read over 70 reviews for every one I have written myself, so if I looked at your stats, I would see somebody who is not reading around very much. I think this probably explains your low read figure.
I think your chosen products do limit your market to an extent, but there are plenty of people on dooyoo with babies and I would have thought the internet sites would be quite popular with some as well. I suspect your own reading habits is more relevant to your stats here.0 -
I don't post a new review until I have at least 70 rates, so perhaps you're just writing too many reviews in a short amount of time. Most of my reviews have 80-90 rates. I also read a lot of other reviews and so get return rates from those. I don't know if you're products would limit the amount of rates you get as a lot of people tend to read reviews on pretty much anything!
It's just about reading lots and writing less.0 -
thanks for advice i'll get reading moreFor thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0

To be honest, there is a strong anti-new member bias on Dooyoo because so many new members write poor quality reviews and don't rate other people. Once you lose the 'new member' symbol, you will probably find that your rates per review increase, particularly if you establish yourself on the site by reading and rating around the site.
I personally think it helps to leave comments relevant to the review, again to establish yourself and set you aside from the mass of new members around. Writing relevant comments also shows that you are actually reading reviews and not speed-rating.
It does sound like you have a good attitude towards the site and the ratings will continue to rise the longer you actively participate in the site.0 -

How long before your no longer a new member? Do you have to reach a certain number of reviews of do you have to have been a member for a certain lenght of time?
I've been leaving commets around 35 in total now and managed to read a few more reviews this evening. I'm finding the site really useful and interesting I've learnt about some great new products I'd never heard of. I think it will influence what I buy from now on.For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood.
