  • Thanks - I wasn't sure if 2 days was a long time or not (don't know what their standard response time is). I seem to remember them responding quicker than that last time but it was ages ago so I may have got mixed up.

The error seemed to be with the image link. For some reason it just wouldn't accept it even though I tried about 3 different images and also tried linking directly to it AND copying the image elsewhere and then copying the link.

Image links will fail if they are too big, or (for me anyway) most typically when the end of the link is incorrect - make sure it ends in .jpg or .gif (usually) and nothing else - Flikr, for example, will append extra bits to the end and make the image link fail (you just need to remove those extra bits.

If you want to PM me the details, I'll send 'em over to the PTB if you like.

    Cheers

That would be great - thank you! I'll send a PM now.

    Thanks

    Well done bumblebee!!

Has anyone else noticed that there are some new members who are being generally very rude and abusive to members who don't rate them as very useful. According to dooyoo they won't do anything about it if it's done via PM. Any suggestions?

Have they actually said that? I find that strange (although, to be fair, in a PM conversation there are always two sides to consider). I think I'd still report it though. Dooyoo should be able to see your PMs (though I cannot say that they can for certain). If enough people complain they might do something, though if they're just being rude rather than actually abusive, they might not be too interested if only one or two members report it. I think one or two of the guides have mentioned rude members recently though.

I received a PM the other day, off someone who had received a PM complaining about the U they'd given and that they'd been reported to Dooyoo because of it. They wanted to know if they'd be in trouble.

I think some people must be using the PM system to 'threaten' others into changing their ratings. And by threaten I dont mean 'I'm gonna smash your face in' kinda thing, more 'if you don't change your rate I'm gonna report you for revenge rating'.

ETA: Oops sorry meant to say well done BumbleBee :)

I copy and pasted the entire conversation for them to see.
I think that dooyoo are generally very fair so they probably have good reason for not acting on it but it's annoying when this person is being so unpleasant. I noticed on her reviews that she snaps at anyone who makes a comment...whether it's constructive criticism or someone adding their experience. She's very very defensive. Seems to have it in for the guides.
She accused me of revenge rating on someone elses behalf...she's a new member, I'd never read any of her stuff before, she'd never read anything of mine, as far as I know she hasn't had a run in with anyone who I talk to on dooyoo...it was completely surreal. At first I thought she was a troll but her reviews are too long for that.

ETA: Fiver I think you're right. She basically told me that if I didn't explain why I had rated her as somewhat useful on three of her reviews (I had only explained on one) then she was going to report me for revenge rating because even the guide for the category had rated her higher than I did.

Are they actually her reviews?? I don't know how people do it, but I've seen people pick up on reviews that have just been copied nd pasted from elsewhere. I guess you'd have to be really interested in the subject to notice. So maybe its a troll just copying other peoples reviews off other sites !!

That's a possibility. Maybe I should put one of her reviews into google and see.

Do any of you think there's anything that can be done about speed rating?
I've written really long reviews adn had people rate them in seconds...do dooyoo check this stuff out?
