Thanks for all of your support. I'm feeling better now that I've taken some time away from the computer. It's just that when someone who is in a position of power acts like that it somehow feels worse thanwhen it's your normal average dooyooer.

She did ask me not to rate any of her reviews again and even though I was tempted to respond to her PM on the review that I rated somewhat useful I decided it was best to avoid further conflict and let dooyoo deal with it.

I'm considering becoming a dooyoo recluse... not sure exactly how it would work but it would involve blocking every single member of dooyoo so that no one can ever message me again!

I totally understand your feelings (though, as I said, I don't know the circumstances, or who is involved) Do keep in mind that guides don't have any more 'power' than anyone else - we may have a closer proximity to the 'ear', if you like, but we've no power (though if anyone's offering, I'd like some. World domination has always been an ambition of mine - mwhahahahahaaaaa).

Some of them DO think they are better than others though. Not me! When I was a guide, I knew I was better than other members! :rotfl:

Good on you for reporting it to Dooyoo, Brooke. I don't expect guides to be perfect, but I do expect them to at least know the workings of the site. Contacting people by PM to query a rating, then getting shirty about it is not what a guide should be doing IMO.

By the way, I think there are some guide roles available, so if anyone fancies a bash, feel free to drop Dooyoo a PM or email.

I can't believe that! I've always found the guides I've come across to be really helpful and approachable and I would be gobsmacked if I got that response! You have definitely done the right thing in reporting.

I have to say that I've never had the need to rate any guide's review any less than VU as yet. (I was tempted once with one very tediously long review about toothpaste but I went for the easy option.)

I'm not going to lie to you, it can be a thankless task at times. Some people are convinced that the guides are all crooked and you will get some ludicrous accusations levelled at you. However, when you do end up helping people, it is massively rewarding. It's not difficult either, as long as you have a little spare time and in fact if you're already spending a bit of time on the site, reading around etc. it won't take up that much more time than you currently spend on Dooyoo.

As I've said before, not all guides were created equally. Some are brilliant... the ones you know from here who are guides or ex-guides are baron, cmh and grovesy (although I have to admit that I've actually met cmh and grovesy and they ARE smashing in real life too). There are more that I don't think have posted here. There are others that I don't agree with, pretty much all of thetime, but that just makes life interesting.

Seriously though, no Guide is above any other member and should treat members as they would like to be treated. Guides are doing a largely thankless task but it is a task that we volunteer for and IMO opinion if you cannot take the odd SU rate you need to chill out. For me even if I felt it unfair it so not a big deal in the grand scheme of dooyoo rating. Guides are not beyond reproach and I don't feel we should be any more immune from SU rates than anyone else. I know I have had my fair share and have given out a fair few too, it is not the end of the world. I also don't think Guides should be blocking members as it sends out the wrong signals. Mind you I am not an advocate of the block function anyway. If you don't want to talk to someone just don't respond. Hardly rocket science.
