I've had a few people asking me lately why I rated U. I am happy to explain my reasons, but I always put at the bottom of the PM that it's just my POV and there's no way they'll please everyone all the time.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0

For me it's not a case of being worked up over a useful rating. I'm happy to have a mixture because the fact that I nearly always get very useful ratings to me suggests that people aren't reading my reviews and it also means that they never improve. If everyone rates everything very useful how will I ever be able to find out what I can do to improve?Like last week someone rated one of my reviews as useful and I messaged her to see what I could do to improve and she gave me some really good suggestions. I decided against editing in the end because the review got crowned but next time I write a review of a city I'm going to be sure to recommend more hotels from a range of budgets, if I can.I guess I just see it as a positive thing to ask for feedback on reviews, people do it to me all the time and unless they're really rude (which they often are) I have no problem making suggestions or explaining why I didn't feel that I could rate them higher.Maybe I'm being overly sensitive and getting offended over nothing (offended at the reply I was given rather than the rating).
Oh I am not suggesting you have an issue with getting a Useful rating - from what you have said here you don't really seem to have a problem with it.
What I meant was some people do, mistaking anything but a VU as an unwarranted attack.
Most people will respond to a fair question with a fair answer and if they don't, well just ignore them and deprive them of the 15 miles you could have given them, and some constructive criticism.0 -
Thanks for all of your feedback.
I spoke to the member and it seems that it was all a lot of misunderstandings. He thought I was being sarcastic asking him for advice. Difficult to tell these things over the internet.0 -
Question: Do you think it's acceptable to ask people for pointers on how to improve your reviews if they don't rate you as very useful?
I always do this and usually get back a positive response and am then able to improve reviews...and often it's a good way to make new friends on teh site. Today I did the same and got a really hostile reply...I think I was polite in the way I worded the request. Plus it seems like it was a revenge rate, I didn't think it was at first but the response I got made it sound like he had only rated me as such because of how I rated him.
So the question is, is it okay to ask other members for pointers on improving reviews?
It's certainly OK to ask others, especially if you're polite, but you might not get an answer. Personally, I don't believe that a decently written review can be improved if you've written a review that includes all the information you need. The main reason I don't give out higher marks is because a review doesn't tell me something I want know. I don't want to tell people what's missing because they'll add it to the review and then expect a re-rate. Ciao.co.uk used to be horrendous for that!
So, in terms of information, I'll probably not say too much, but if it's a case of making the review more readable or more concise, then I will offer plenty of feedback.0 -
I gave up on dooyoo - I got enough points for amazon vouchers - registered for it and never recieved it - no response from their contact email either. Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0

Did you contact a Guide? There were a few issues around Christmas but it was amazon's error.0 -
Is there any way of requesting a review without writing about it yourself, I think if you suggest a product the dooyoo team expect you to write about it, but is there anything you can do if there is a product you would like to see written about but haven't used or bought yourself?
On the back of this suggestion and cmh's post on the guides group, I think this idea is being put forward at the next developers meeting. The community staff seem to like it, so that's a very promising start. :T0 -
Can anyone offer some advice please? I tried to send a suggestion to add a new item that I wanted to review and the system wouldn't let me, it kept showing an error message. So instead I sent a normal message to the Dooyoo team to say what I wanted to add.
I can't remember exactly when I sent it but I think it was 2 days ago and I've had no response yet. Any ideas what I should do?0 -

Two days isn't much time. But, what sort of error message did you get? Was your link broken, or did the image link not work? If you let us know the error message, we may be able to help - and failing that, I'll send a message for you about your error (but I do need to know what sort of error you ran into)
Cheers

Thanks - I wasn't sure if 2 days was a long time or not (don't know what their standard response time is). I seem to remember them responding quicker than that last time but it was ages ago so I may have got mixed up.
The error seemed to be with the image link. For some reason it just wouldn't accept it even though I tried about 3 different images and also tried linking directly to it AND copying the image elsewhere and then copying the link.0
