SDH - lucky git (your friend!). :rotfl: What is her secret?

Honestly? She yo-yo diets to the extreme. She practically starves herself - living on ryvita & marmite

and then decides she can't be bothered with all that, as phew dieting is way too difficult and eat anything & everything. Well not anything, she's a vegan

I really don't consider it a very healthy way to diet (and she knows how I feel) and everytime she tries to loose weight it is more difficult (because your body "remembers" being starved)
But anyhey: each to their own!

:o I need help. These last few days have been terrible. I am definitely a comfort eater and when things are not going well, I stuff my face. My husband and I split at the end of January (after 20 yrs together) and things have not been easy. I thought that I was coping well but obviously I am not.
Although I have been running this week as normal, in work I have been caving in and having the treats along with the others. At home, once DD is in bed I am having crisps and chocolate. I think it's a vicious circle - I suffer from low self esteem and have a severe lack of confidence. In my head I think 'well I'm already disgusting, what difference is a packet of crisps gonna make?' Except of course, it's never just 1 packet, is it?

Ok, today I'm going to try very very hard not to eat crap this evening once DD goes to bed. I am running this afternoon and before that I have promised DD that we can go to the park to practise her cycling. That involves and lot of running along beside her and holding the bike etc so hopefully that will help.
Sorry for the depressing post! :o

Hi, I also suffer a severe lack of confidence and low self esteem so know exactly where you are coming from. I am also a comfort eater and any tiny bit of stress gets to me  However, I am trying to think that whatever I am putting into my mouth is affecting these issues even more and making my lack of confidence so much worse. I have previously had days where I cannot even go out of the house as I feel so bad about myself but the last week I have been changing my attitude to positive mental attitude!! I have been writing down why I eat and what triggers it, what I dislike about me, what I like and what I can & must improve. The list is endless but a little at a time is what I am aiming for. I know it must be hard but everyone has their problems and only we ourselves can tackle our eating issues. We control everything we put into our mouths and we can make better choices which in return will make us feel so much better and we will also be healthier. Please think to the future and imagine what you would like to be and aim high for yourself, you can do it. We all can xx

Hi Rotherham Lass, just pull yourself together and get focussed :D;)

I was in my local shop today and picked up a muffin, fortunately I read the label and discovered it had 490 cals !!!! So I put it back :A

Unfortunately, I then went round to my son's for tea and then scoffed the remains of a box of chocs left over from christmas :o

Oh well, tomorrow is another weekend and I am DETERMINED that I will have lost weight by Monday!

Still not venturing on my wonky scales but my clothes are definitely looser:j

Yesterday was an odd day as I had a mystery shop to do in a restaurant so I opted for a steak burger with lettuce and tomato and a few chunky chips (the chips came as standard) and a capuccino. I had a slice of mozzarella and pesto pizza for tea.

Today, I had coffee for breakfast (no cereal although I did have some yesterday), for some unknown reason I fancied semolina for lunch with a dollop of blackcurrant jam:eek: then this afternoon I scoffed 2 bags of plain crisps, 2 hot cross buns (no butter), a cadbury wispa and 4 jammy dodgers:eek: tea was boiled egg n soldiers (I say boiled egg I left them in the boiler a bit too long so instead of being able to dip my soldiers the eggs were hardboiled:rolleyes: ). Methinks I must have had a low blood sugar to scoff all that rubbish:rolleyes: Back on the straight and narrow again:D

SDH - hmm, yes, not a good way to lose weight at all! I can understand fad dieting as a one-off before your wedding (after all, you're going to be looking at those pics forever!) but it is just DAFT in general.

Rotherham Lass - don't dwell on the junk food! I had dinner out with OH this evening and am stuffed to bursting! All I can think of is how it's probably wiped out my good week of exercise! But then I think 'well, if I hadn't exercised I'd be in a worse situation' IYKWIM! You can get back on track xo

stacyl1977, sincere thanks for a very moving post, I know it rang true for me and I'm sure it will for others too :A

Daisy, well done on putting back the muffin!
poshstock, well done on the 2lb loss!
Dragon, well done on reaching 1500 cals! You all rock.

Horace, great to hear that your clothes are looser, that is very good news! Wahey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm away to bed (very full), goodnight ladies xoxo

Now I've given up chocolate I really need to focus on the other stuff I eat, so please count me in for half a stone in March.

Weight today 239 and a half pounds
    Height 65"
    Age 39
Incentives for me: I need to drop a load of weight if I ever want to get my black belt in my martial arts class.
I will be 40 next January.
    Going to Orlando at Christmas.
Fallen Arches and snoring would be helped by weight loss.
    Update for halfway through MArch

weight this morning - 236 lbs
so half of half a stone at the halfway mark!

Still not had any chocolate since Pancake Day!:j

Martial Arts grading is next week(mother's day!) , so hopefully I can lose another pound or two before then.

Remember to tell the kids in your life you love flowers more than chocolate, even if it is a bit of a lie - otherwise you'll have chocs from the kids next Sunday!!

ailuro2 - well done on the weight loss, it's brilliant.
Dragon - I'm with tara on your calorie intake. What about if you tried 'nibbles'. A bit here and there would increase your calories, I'm sure. Well done on yesterday's intake, that was brilliant.
Those who are struggling with the self esteem, it is hard, mine is quite low and a lot of the time I think whats the point in trying to lose weight, but then my 4 year old will say something, like 'have you lost more weight mummy? you look lovely' I always used to compare myself to the skinny mums at school, mind you, I've always done this right from an early age. I'm now getting my head round the fact that everyone is different, those that matter don't judge you, they like you for you, warts and all.

Anyway, been quite good since my weigh in on Thursday, but I have a confession to make - I am a weigh myself everyday girl!!!!!! I know I shouldn't but as someone said the other day, it helps to keep me focused, and it works for me so I shall carry on doing it. Mind you, it would help if weight watchers scales were either the same as mine, or at least out by the same amount each week!!!!! I'm sure they fiddle with them! lol

Anyway, better carry on sorting all this carp in my kitchen, where does all this paperwork come from!!

Have a good weekend, and remember, DON'T EAT IT!!!! lol
Need to sort my life out! :T
