  • You know, relying on software to look after your PC is not really the most secure way of using the internet.
Having some savvy and learning about what is dodgy, and not randomly clicking and opening every email you get will go a long way towards stopping any nasties.

    Along with (generally speaking):
Downloading pirate software, music and movies.
    Visiting !!!!!! websites.
Playing flash & java games - kids are a menace.

Just because your car has 20 air bags doesn't mean you should drive any worse than the guy who has none.
You'll probably find he drives a little better...

Rapport does cause problems with computers, I've had two customers contact me over the last week with issues - primarily their system running very slowly, hanging applications & suchlike. As soon as Rapport is disabled, they run smoothly again. Trusteer seem to be aware that such problems can occur as, during uninstallation, there's a message pops up saying 'if you're having issues with slow running then click here and our technicians can assist you'. Haven't bothered following the links as I've got better things to do & I figure if they can't provide software without issues in the first place then I'm certainly not going to help them.

Or use that and other free programs to save paying Norton. Money Saving after all!;)

You have to spend money to save money. 3 computer towers got destroyed because of viruses before.

I wouldn't trust this 'free' software. What this software does is what Norton already does for me on internet explorer with phishing alerts (e.g secure padlock website for natwest ect)

The IT guys at work think Norton is a virus and not exactly a great program for taking up system resourses. They recommend AVG or other programs.

Err, actually, plenty of free software is brilliant, and lots of it is better than stuff you pay for. Just because its free doesny mean its rubbish. In fact chances are, this website and 90% of others that you view are hosted on servers running free software, running web server applications that are also free.

How did you have 3 PC's 'destroyed' by viruses?... You may have had the operating system trashed, but at worst, all you would have to do would be to reinstall the OS..

Just downloaded rapport... we shall see how it works....

Not that easy as it sounds. I tried everything, took to a repair man ect no joy.

AVG is free and crap. Didn't protect my computer.

I'm sticking with what I know, Norton. Unless it goes wrong of course.
