Seems from everyone's post that I'm the only one who's not excited... Not sure why really, I'd get proper excited when i see the keys in my hand and the 'SOLD' sign has been taken off.

That small bottle of champers has been in our fridge forever!

Keep the faith. I picked up my keys today and the sign also went. :j_party_

Champers in 25 mins woop woop.

To many phone calls for gas, internet etc.

    Hi all,

I've been reading these boards for a while but this is my first post.
Reading this board has ignited by excitement levels! It's great to hear everyones elses experiences :-)

I had my offer accepted 2 weeks ago on a gorgeous 3 bed. :-)

I got a letter from Natwest last week comfirming the inital mortgage offer, but then I've not heard anything since .. until I heard yesterday from the estate agents that the valuation/homebuyers survey is taking place tomorrow.
I checked my Natwest account and they've taken out the fee for this.

So can I be pretty certain that everythings ok with my mortgage?

surely they wouldn't do the survey / charge me .. and then turn around and say "you're not suitable / don't meet our criteria" would they??

    It's all very nerve wracking!
Congrats, ours is going ahead tomorrow too. Spoke to the surveyor who gave us a courtesy call earlier on asking if there's anything we want him to look at specifically and that he's going in the morning and it'll be dictated in the afternoon and sent out on Monday!

Correct, everything with you is OK, just pray that the valuation comes back at what you paid or if lower that the vendor will reduce the price! All the best, keep this thread updated and I'll do the same! Any questions, phone natwest with the ref no, they were excellent on the phone. I assume you';ve received all your texts etc? :)

Another fab update - our mortgage offer was issued yesterday :jit hasn't arrived in the post this morning but will hopefully turn up tomorrow.

We have Bacs'd our deposit today so sols should get that next week. I am really hoping we can exchange soon!

All in all it took the abbey 15 days from our initial application to issuing the mortgage offer so I can't fault them really.

Thanks for the response! The surveyor hasn't called but i got a letter detailing what the survey would cover.

Fingers crossed your survey go's well!

I'm on holiday next week which is rubbish timing as I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time worrying about it all ... and also thinking about sofa's and fridges etc :cheesy:
  • we will soon be back to looking for our first home.

i am currently building up some info to use when the time comes, such as how long houses have been on the market etc.

not looking forward to having to deal with the EA again as they were useless last summer. but needs must.

our aim is to get serious again in september with a view to moving in the new year if possible.

Cheers! I have read receipts on my work email and the surveyor has read my email just now! Wonder what he'll say......

It's exciting! Now let's hope for easy renegotiating or a swift process with the solicitors!

Still not stressed, just excited :)

Hi all, we are right at the beginning of our journey. We waited to get our wedding out of the way a couple of weeks ago and now my wife and I are ready to embark.

We have spoken to a whole of market broker, who has identified a £215k, 5 year deal at 4.19% with £250 cashback on completion and no survey fees. Targetting minimum of 5 year deals, should in theory work well in it's duration. Going to my bank (HSBC) and having a word, as their current rate matcher seems like an ok deal if the above doesn't happen.

Going to get something in writing that says we can get a mortgage, so we don't start off dealing with faffy EAs, when we make a decision in the next week or so.

I just wish we didn't live in London....

thanks wilma, yeah the washing machine is a bit extreme but apparently i found out today they dont put big blocks of concrete in them anymore so that should make them a bit lighter hopefully

Patmoore, welcome to the club, good luck with your hunt and congratulations on the marriage :T
