Exactly, it's VERY exciting indeed! Our house will take a while to make immaculate but it's all about location at the end of the day and it certainly has that! Since we got married we've rented and been very happy but a 'new start' in our house will be great!

Cant agree more! it will be really satisfying to do the house up exactly the way you want it too!

I think your time scales are achievable too. We made an offer; it was accepted the same day and within 6 weeks we exchanged and completed. It could have been a lot shorter if not for the lender asking for clearer and clearer copies of my work permit.
    Good luck with it!

Woohoo, my solicitors received the contract papers today, so they raised a couple of enquiries and e-mailed us the copy report etc. We are going back to view the house again tomorrow to measure up. Getting excited now, hopefully will get our mortgage offer soon.

i'm still looking! But only viewed one house in the last month and that was today.

The agent rang me at work and I thought oh why not! We didn't know a house number before going but i jotted a few sold prices down from nethouseprices before we went and luckily wrote down the right house.

We were in and out in 10 minutes. The house was bought for £150k (3 bed terrace with integral garage) in Feb this year. The vendor has put a cheap wood effect new kitchen units in the very small kitchen, painted the living room magnolia and put down new cheap looking carpets which we were told we could negotiaite for if we wanted them... the new price £170k!!! Zoopla values it at £150k.

The cracked tiles in the bathroom, stained lino, rusty shower and cheap doors remained. We were told an offer ' in the 150s' had been rejected this morning. Wow our mouths were wide open. Some people have such a nerve. Had to have a rant as i feel people like this are the reason that people like me in their 30s with professional jobs haven't been able to afford to buy a home to live in and enjoy.

    Really cross now!

Sorry to hear about that Vkay. Zoopla seems to overprice to start with so the house is probably not going to sell at 170K. Has it just come on the market? I think you will have to tell the EA your honest opinions and it could get through the vendor's skull that that price for a new coat of paint and cheap kitchen is not going to get anywhere!

thats great news, i am getting to the stage now where i spend every waking hour on the internet looking at furniture, checking out bill prices, its becoming a heavy obsession, trouble is i do need sleep at some point, luckily im only working short shifts at work this week with the weekend off otherwise i am seriously going to burn myself out *bring on the panda eyes* ;) im not surprised i am so excited cos this is not just about a new home to me its about a new life!!:rotfl:

lol I know what u mean! BTW i thought to share this; for the bathroom, check out PTS - Plumbing trade supplies because I found their prices to be really good. They have this catalouge thing with all the prices but when you ring up, they are almost half that price normally. I got a shower door from there (6mm thick glass and aluminium, which is rather good if you know shower doors at all) for £123 when the same door costs about £300. Good for taps too!

Im still looking for a good corner sofa so if you find any cheap good shops lemme know!

Seems from everyone's post that I'm the only one who's not excited... Not sure why really, I'd get proper excited when i see the keys in my hand and the 'SOLD' sign has been taken off.

That small bottle of champers has been in our fridge forever!

    Hi all!
Thought I would join your group. Have offered on an apartment and been accepted. Waiting for the go ahead from homebuy then mortgage, solicitors ready and waiting! All very scary and doesn't quite seem real... is this normal?
I'm honestly waiting for someone to call and say actually no your not buying this apartment.
    EEK!

    Hi all,

I've been reading these boards for a while but this is my first post.
Reading this board has ignited by excitement levels! It's great to hear everyones elses experiences :-)

I had my offer accepted 2 weeks ago on a gorgeous 3 bed. :-)

I got a letter from Natwest last week comfirming the inital mortgage offer, but then I've not heard anything since .. until I heard yesterday from the estate agents that the valuation/homebuyers survey is taking place tomorrow.
I checked my Natwest account and they've taken out the fee for this.

So can I be pretty certain that everythings ok with my mortgage?

surely they wouldn't do the survey / charge me .. and then turn around and say "you're not suitable / don't meet our criteria" would they??

    It's all very nerve wracking!
