  • Good morning everyone.

Nesssie A very happy birthday to you. :bdaycake: I hope you have a wonderful day and the year ahead brings lovely things for you.

I've not had a chance to read through most of the thread yet. DH is home today and each time I try to read decides he wants to talk to me. I'll try to catch up later on.

The SC crystallized ginger was a complete FLOP! :( Not only did it not crystallize, it burned so I can't even use the syrup from it. Live and learn, I'll definitely do it stove top with another recipe next time. :D

I've tidied the flat, dusted and hoovered. Dishes are washed up and kitchen is put to rights. The floor could use a quick wash and since our kitchen is tiny it would only take a few minutes to do. Now just to find the motivation to get it done.

Breakfast this morning was egg and toast. Lunch will be HM creamy veg soup and a roll. Tea tonight will be pork with peppers and onions in plum ginger sauce, rice and brocolli. I got the sauce at B&M for 19p for a big jar and can't make it that cheaply.

I'm heading off now to prepare for my Tuesday meeting and reply to some emails long neglected. :o

Hoping everyone has a good day. Lots of (((((((((Gentle Hugs)))))))))) to everyone, especially those feeling poorly, down and stressed.

    Peyton xx

    Good morning guys,

    Happy birthday Nessie  :D

Well best laid plans of mice etc. etc. etc. just about sums up yesterday. Got the bookcase done, cooking and cleaning and that's about it. :o
Today is a bit more up in the air too. We need some milk so at some point we will have to go out, I have bought down all the photo albums which are piled all over the table and I am going to sort through and let the kids choose some of their dad for their rooms and then put them in the frames I bought months ago. TBH I haven't been able to face this until now but it needs doing and I also want to find one to get blown up for the lounge.

Bacon and egg butties for lunch (except the 2 youngest who hate eggs so they can choose a filling) and I have a chicken defrosting for tea - probably to be done with all the trimmings. The ever growing ironing pile will be ignored again today but only if I do the hall carpet tonight ;) The AOL still isn't right on the pc so I will have to look again at that too. Not a very OS day really but hey ho.

I am glad to hear pen-pin is OK, gentle hugs being sent out to all in need today.
MSD glad to hear Tristan is 'talking' to you again, hugs to you both. xx
Hester I hope DD is OK?

  • Morning OS friends!

Beautiful and sunny here - going to try and get out of the house and go and park at the sea front for a while - n9eav inspired me... We are only 10 mins away and take it for granted I think.

Halight - that might be half payments for the last three weeks. If memory serves, they do that kind of thing and then back date the rest. When I first applied for disability Living allowance they tell you it will take 11 weeks, and sure enough - it did! Felt rich when the back payment went in though, how they expected me to live in the meantime I have no idea.
Fairy elephant - *hugs* to you honey.. I had dreams like that after it happened to me and it's so painful. Words cannot help I know but all I can say is that it gets more bearable as time goes on.
Isochick - I am so sorry to hear that dreadful news.
    Moggins - big hugs honey
Bunny - goodluck2.gifwith your list hon

Tristan saw the Dr again yesterday and he says that apparently the meds that Tris has been on were affecting his temper so the Dr is going to try some new ones. The problem is he is on so many that they can only guess at some of the side effects.

My OH made Phil Vickerys hotpot cobbler last night but we think he might have added too many oats cos we ended up with a kind of gloop. It tasted Ok (not as nice as my OHs normal cooking to be honest) but it was NOT nice to look at and as much as it pains me, I cannot face eating it again tonight so it will be binned. We did save half the cobblers seperately though as they were delicious and we thought we might put them on a normal mince mixture tonight. Normally to stretch mince we add grated carrots and celery but didn't have those in the house last night so oats it was. Not sure we will do it again though, it was like eating wallpaper paste.

Have a friend popping in tonight for dinner. she is one of my best friends so we know we don't have to make an effort, just cook something edible!! (And put a clean cloth on the table!):rotfl:

I hope everyone has a good day - the BM is on here and I can see washing out on the line, which is lovely. Warm gentle hugs hug.gif to those who would like one.

    with love and light

Edited to say : congrats.pngBeemuzed!! Well done you!
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

Second entry today................got OH out for a walk and also came with me in the car and walked round Aldi, first time he has been in a gorcery shop for months......They have baking spuds for 69 just now, bought another bag, plus 4 primulas for 99p reduced from £2.49. All they needed was a good water, and new boot tidy for the car £2.99 from £4.00 and 20 daffs in bud for 89p result......nice splash of colour to come in the living room.....

Its brightened up a bit, the sun is trying to get through...time for lunch, bread and cheese I think.........yogurt for OH and apple for me.........

After lunch I am going to cut out the first of the bolero's and try the fabric on the machine, I might have to get fine ball point needles if so I will have to go to the sewing machine shop in the town on the bus, difficult to park.......

I will also cut the sashing for a quilt whilst I have the board out........
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

    Happy birthday nessie! :bdaycake:

IsoChick - what terrible news. It's a tragedy and words fail me.

    beemuzed - :j :j :j congratulations!

Well, I've been to the dentist this morning. Not much to say about that. I've looked at Martin's dental insurance article and I think that I'm going to "self insure" for future treatment. I still have ok teeth, so I'm thinking that I won't have to use most of the money for a while...... I hope!

On my way back from the dentist, I popped into a farm shop that often have a presence at our local farmers' market. They're on my route that I take, so I don't have to divert anywhere! They are mainly a butcher for their own beef and lamb, but get other meat in from local farms. Although I normally buy from our lovely butcher in the centre of our little town, it's always nice to have a change, isn't it? I've got some lovely looking sausages, stewing beef and minced beef. I'll split it all up and put it in the freezer...

Supper tonight is going to be ostrich burgers (from the farmers' market on Saturday) with potatoes and veg (kale from farmers' market and carrots).

Right, I'd better crack on. I need to put a load into the WM and then stare lovingly at the mess in the sitting room before tidying it up.

    Take care all
