Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as w

¡Hola! everyone
Just on the first coffee:beer: . Need to get organised as some friends invited us last night to a bike ride around the Mar Menor today, so if you don't see me on here later, you will realise a BSA is more than a old make of motorbike:rolleyes: .

The second lot of Beef Bourg. was not in the SC early enough for tea, so switched it off at bedtime, and will get it half in the fridge, and half in the freezer in a mo. No CH and tiled floors here so no heat problems overnight. Had a sort of quick pork sweet & sour instead it was fine not a lot of the sour more of the sweet, will adjust but it was a first attempt. PPT what is Pork Char Sui? Not a very adventurous cook, and it may be too spicy for us, but sure would like to see the recipe, as others I am sure would like it too.

Missed half of Who Do You Think You Are last night, I think it is repeated tonight on BBC2, so will have a look in a mo, hopefully they are all recorded at home, fingers crossed.

Hester hope you are coping with the GKids OK and that DD is OK now. Pen-Pin hope you are enjoying your break, glad to see you are feeling 100% again Smoky, enjoy half term:o :grouphug: to all who need one.

Take care. DG

    Morning Donny Gal and Hester

Donny Gal - I think the BBC is keeping a backlog of all the "Who Do You Think You Are" programs on iplayer rather than just for the usual one week.

Today - I have to get on withe the list I so optimistically posted on yesterday's thread. I did do some of it, but not all of it. I do have to go up to Belfast this morning though, so doubt if I'll be home before mid-afternoon. But Tuesday is "bad telly day" so I have a fighting chance of being more productive this evening.

    Have a great day everyone.

Morning. Coffee pot on here too. I think I will finish glossing the hall and landing today even if it kills me. It's pretty labourious and I have gone off the idea. When the sun came out and it warmed up I left the paint brush and headed out to the garden yesterday. Managed to tidy up a few areas and will carry on today if the weather holds.
I can feel there is restlessness in the camp with everyone wanting to do somthing, so might have to wander over to Newquay and check out the beaches. It's not warm by any means, but the sun might brighten everyones day up.
Chicken pie for tea I think. Cheers folks

Yes they are 28 days, but they cannot be downloaded out of the country, and not due back until end of March.:o

It is on BBC2 at 7 o'clock your time tonight, hope the BBC2 signal is good tonight:rolleyes: .

:bdaycake: Nessie - the big Four 0 - brings back memories (can I remember that far back now:eek:  )

    Morning :hello:

Hester, I hope DD is OK?
Annie, I've set Mastermind to record :D
    Moggins :hello:

I'm feeling full of energy today so hopefully will get lots done - I've put the ironing board up and plugged the iron in ready, I'll get that done first cos it's my least favourite thing on the list. I'm saving my favourite thing til last - the garden. I want to put some old slabs on the floor in the greenhouses and then sort out the seeds, I can't wait to get them going :D I've usually got the potatoes chitting by now so I'll do that today too.

I'm looking for a good book on farming/smallholding, can anyone recommend one? I want an old fashioned type, similar to The Book Of The Farm that they had on Victoran Farm but not quite as old as that. Maybe something from the 40's, 50's or 60's?

    Morning everyone!

I didn't see "who do you think you are" last night either, was at Choir practice :) I'm pretty sure that it's repeated on BBC2 at 7pm.

Well, today I'm 40! Happy Birthday to me :bdaycake:

I've taken the day off work, as I try not to work on "my" day. DH is away with work, so I don't need to worry about a surprise party or anything like that. I've got friends from work coming round this evening with a takeaway under their arms, so that I don't need to cook :j

But, I'll have to give the house a quick run round and tidy up before then. I've also got some bananas that I want to use up, so I'm going to make some banana brownies.

But first, I think I'm going to go back to bed and read my book for a bit - have a good day everyone!

N9eav - i would give almost anything to be able to do this today *goes green with envy*

Well i`ve finally managed to reformat the laptop and reinstall windows :j it`s like having a new pc, i`m so pleased. It will soon look like the old lappy when i`ve altered a few things, the default settings arn`t pretty.
I`ve been looking through 4 holidays worth of photos that i backed up onto discs and it`s doing this that`s made me want a holiday, all the pics are of blue sky and lovely beaches in Cornwall. Doubt that we`ll get away this year but maybe next.

Well the antivirus has finished downloading so i shall go install it and run a quick scan, afterwards i need to hang up all the washing and empty the dw for starters

Catch up later peeps, have a good day.

    Good morning everyone,

What a bunch of coffee drinkers we are today, I'm on my first cup of it too :DHalight - I would say that some money is better than none but how do they expect 4 of you to manage on that???????? Good luck ringing them

Nessie Happy Birthday To You! :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake: Enjoy your evening & not cooked by you takeaway :T

Tru Can't reccommend a book but maybe a pop into charity shops on your travels may turn one up? Your greenhouse sounds great I don't have one or the room for one but I do all the seeds on kitchen windowsills much to the cats disgust as there's no room for them :rotfl:

Penny Pincher & Thriftlady - Hope you are both ok ?:hello:

Not much going on here today apart from I'm going to the library this morning & taking the kids to the dentist for their 6 monthly check up this afternoon. They're not happy at having to be back to go in the middle of the afternoon :p Lunch is potato cakes with the leftover mash from Sunday with beans & scrambled eggs & dinner this evening is chilli which I'm cooking for the first time in the slow cooker. It's done well this week I've used it for the last three days :rotfl: It usually only gets used once a week or so. I love being able to put everything in it & not to think about dinner again until the evening :D

The boiler man is coming at some stage today so we'll hopefully have heat & hot water again. Luckily it's not cold at the mo. Well dh is due back from work any minute & he'll be ready for bed so I'd better get my upstairs jobs done before he goes;)

Have a good day everyone ((((((((((big hugs)))))))))))) to all that want one.

    Louise xx
