Tru... Have a look at this book. I know someone who bought it and was pleased with it. http://www.blpbooks.co.uk/broad_leys_books/starting_a_smallholding.php?PHPSESSID=626f9f85129b91ebbac5ed63a74e80b3

Kind thoughts to all in need.

Broad Leys publishing is/was run by Katie Thear and her husband, years ago they used to publsh a magazine for smallholders, cannot for the life of me remember what it was called now, we subscribed to it back in the '80's. Katie also wrote several books herself inlcuing one about poultry and another on goat rearing.

Morning all................((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

A bit of a grey morning, two mugs of coffee gone down the hatch......OH up and showered, need to get him out for a walk and get one of the bolero's cut out and hopefully sewn up........

Waiting for them to come and collect my old cooker, I need to get the pressure cooker on to cook beef stew, too late to get it iin the slow cooker, need it for supper tonight. Waiting for DD to find someone who can come and connect the new one when it arrives........

Kitchen floor needs a wash, only takes a couple of minutes, very small floor thankfully.......I use a cloth on the end of a mop, spray the floor with a mixture of stardrops and bleech, quick swipe over, all done........

  • Good Morning,

Well the ironing did not get done last night but i did get a load of washing on. DW on as i left this morn after cleaning kitchen last night. Have been trying to do Flylady but I am a bit too slow unfortunatly! Nevermind better to get some done than none at all.
OH is back down today as he is at a course and has promised to treat me to a chinese takeaway!Lol it's the little things that keep you going!

Anyway OS today I have managed to bring a salad for lunch. HM sweet potato wedges last night were HUGE success. Could live on them and nothing else!

Have been cheekily turning the heating down everyday for a wee while and my fuel bill has dropped by £10 this month which is good. Nice and mild here today so hoping it will stay like that.

HUGS to all today as Tuesdays are rubbish!

wannabesybill - Hugs to you and Little Bear

    Happy Birthday Nessie!

  • 'Morning all! Got into work a bit early so just time to have a cuppa and catch up instead of waiting for the afternooon.

(((Moggins))) - I finally caught up on the threads - wot a nightmare for you Hun! - Wish there was something helpful I could say or do to help, but glad to see that you are staying strong. Thinking of you.

Reverb - re yr msg yesterday - we have a filter machine at home, don't use it too often, but what do you need to know?

Nesssie - Happiest of Birthdays to you m'Dear! I'm catching you up! I get the big 4-O next year (NOT looking forward to it I must say, so glad to see you are cheerful about it  !!!!!!).

Halight - I have an old 'hand-powered' Singer....it is lovely to look at - all painted & etched metal, and I used it for years, but sadly it doesn't work now so it is more 'ornamental' (DH keeps saying I should get rid  , but I can't bear to!). I was bought a 'leccie Frister Rossman by my Grandma before she died, which I use fairly regularly, but 'one day' will find someone who can fix the old Singer.....

Well, Mr A finally delivered my groceries last night (only 3 days late  ) The manager has still not called me back re 'compensation' but there was no reciept and the driver said he didn't even have anything for me to sign....so maybe they are not going to charge me for them at all:confused: ?

Didn't get the bedroom sorted at all last nite:( .
Did manage to get the BM on, so DH had bread for his sarnies today, and make a kind of 'bolognaise thing' - we are keeping an eye on neighbour's house while they are away, and they left a message that there were 'a few veggies' in the bottom of the fridge, could we use what we wanted & throw the rest away  . DH just looked at me & laughed - he knows I NEVER throw away anything if I can help it:o ! The 'few veggies' turned out to be loads as far as I am concerned...half a swede, mushrooms, 3 leeks, part of a cauli, a tomato, spring onions, couple of carrots, couple of inions, few potatoes..... Luckily I had some value minced beef from Mr A, so I used up loads of the 'free' veg with it and made a big pan.

Not feeling great today I have to say, it is one of my 'down' days. Had a lot of dreams last night where I was either still expecting the baby, or she had already been born and we were travelling around showing her off to people (even to Australia FGS - although we know people there it is not likely we would go there, especially with a newborn!), so I was very sad and teary when I woke up and realised that it was all just a dream.

Well, I seem to have written as essay again! Better get on and do some w*rk I suppose... at least it pays the bills!

    Have a good day everyone,

    FE

DH is working away for a few days. I am not used to being alone at night in this house (although the children are here too) but I'm sure it will be fine and I will enjoy a quiet evening to myself tonight. ;) I must pick up the knitting needles and make a start on a baby blanket I have promised a friend.

PTT - I wasn't used to being in the house overnight alone either until dh started working away for 2wks at a time & doing nights but I love it now :D I get to watch what I want on the tv & I can read/knit/cross stitch in peace (kids & dogs prevailing!) ;) Enjoy the peace & quiet while you can!

Good morning, I'm posting a bit later than usual.
No work today or tomorrow. Lovely!
We are visiting friends for lunch today. It is very mild today but a hint of dampness in the air so I don't think it's worth hanging washing out.

Nessie:have a lovely day, although some of us are still in our 30's............till next month lol!

i need to go and have a wee tidy up before we head out.

Morning everyone and happy birthday to nessie:bdaycake: have a brilliant day.
Havent been on for a while due to the usual bugs and stuff this time of year, weve been moving our washing machine and drier to a new home as the electrican came to do all our switches in the new extension so happy days were getting there. Only thing now is the porch looks very sorry for itself bare and in dire need of a paint job, thats my work sorted for this week!
OS wise Ive made two brown loaves, and some hobnobs and have a sponge in the oven so that should keep the boxes full for a few days.
Must do a mealplan as that seems to have gone by the board the past week or so. Have a load of cleaning to do and some washing to peg out, hoping its going to stay dry. Walked the children to the bus earlier and the cat decided to come to now he's worn out, crazy thing its a mile trip!!!
Have a good day everyone and hugs to all who need them, I must catch up on the past few days threads.
