Welcome Lornameg...you will get lots of help in economising here, and join a happy, caring community as well.
Anniestar, nice to see you....time management skills not my strong point either...well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Hi everyone & hello to lornameg.
Been MIA for a bit - busy again & DH on hol from work last week & this to use up hol time - think he thinks it's like nattering on the 'phone when I'm on here!
Got Ofsted coming tomorrow (I'm a childminder) & dreading it! Hardly slept with thinking about it. Hope all paperwork is OK - not been doing this long. DH will be here, DS on hol from college, toddler DS & child I mind, so it'll be a houseful!
On OS front, mum says I can have on longterm loan the BM dad bought ages ago - she's never used it, & won't now since he died, so will get flour, yeast etc this week & have a go this weekend. I've made bread before, but the old-fashioned way, so this will be a new experience. Also hoping to buy a slow cooker soon, to try out cheaper cuts of meat. Often do casseroles really slow in the oven, but it'd be nice to start it off at breakfast time & forget about it for the rest of the day.
Dejunking continues - will take the rest of the year, I reckon!
Community project starting soon in our village, to encourage people to grow edible food - aim is to put people together who have land/experience etc with newbies. I'm helping with survey & set-up - looking forward to it - more OS looming!
Sorry, long post - making up for lost time!
Hope all poorlies/tireds are OK soon - congrats if you deserve them!

This is my first visit to your "daily family"...I hope its OK to spend some time with you all. I love this thread, its really cheered me up today.
I definitely qualify for the Old Style bit of the forum...I'm a 61 year old retired nurse, living in South West France. We, DH ans self have been very badly hit by the exchange rate crisis, so are very into saving our centimes at the moment. When we came here our OAP's were paid here in euros at a rate of 1.47....now its 1.01...we're losing money every month. So...an economy drive is on.
Things already decided...
1. Get the allotment going more this year.
2. Freeze stuff in season when its cheap.
3. No online shopping here, but we will make a shopping list and stick to it.
There will be more...
We need to save our pennies to travel to Scotland to see DD and 2 lovely grandchildren!!!
I'm forever finding ways to eat for less, DH has a big appetite, so not all that enthusiastic!
It was -6 degrees this am, DH played golf in long johns...
I made pumpkin soup and did 1 hour on my wii fit
Dinner tonight, grilled gammon offcuts and roasted vegetables, with baked apple stuffed with prunes for pud.
Hope this wasn't too long
Lornameg
definately not too long, i like a bit of a gander at what other peeps are having for tea as it gives me ideas to 'borrow' as i tend to have little imagination after a long day at work...-

There is obviously something I am doing wrong on here-I hadn't finished my post and somehow I had posted
DOH!
Anyway, DH is making tea HM wedges and "a surprise" so will look forward to that.
By the way, "that" TV show is on this friday_pale_ _pale_ _pale_ _pale_ is friday. You have been warned.:rotfl:
Need to try to fix our video as I can't tape anything at the mo(although why I want to is beyond me to be honest.
Also seeing as I am having some posting problems and don't know when I can get back on can I just say now that you do all remain in my thoughts and prayers diva & Tristan-I lit a candle for you and have done so in church as well. Also Taplady and Lesleys family; Smokey, Pen-Pin, Jackie O's family to name but a few. This is by no means an exclusive list.
Am now going to look at my inbox which is truly shocking.
Have a great evening and take care. Ann xxxxBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

So you don't say "aye" then? If you want to protract the argument why not do it via PM rather than have a public slanging match? Nobody is stopping you from ignoring the comment you didn't like and carrying on as before.
I say aye!!AYE AYE AYE AYE AYE
And may this argument never rear its ugly head again.
Please shut the !!!! up if you want to whine as nobody wants to hear it
Hello Old Stylers
It's been one of those days where I leapt out of bed raring to get going, but got my bum on the chair in front of the puta and got nothing at all done. I tell a lie...I have applied for a job. Wowww, pass the smelling salts I'm going to pass out with excitement.
Wee baby Dylan (baby as in kitty baby, not a human baby!) had an enema on Saturday as he hadn't "been" since Tuesday. Honestly, the vet thought it was a great way to celebrate St Valentine's day...I think I got the best bit of the deal though - poor Dylan went home with a sore bum, the vet had to smell a smell which definitely wasn't roses while all I have to do is pay for the pleasure. At least Dylan is feeling much better now which was my main concern.
On my list of things to do before the day is up:
- sweep and mop kitchen floor
- clear some workspace in the kitchen
- vacuum upstairs carpets
- clear a little bit of space on my desk and put some things away (yes Aussie, the same things that were on my desk when you were here a "few" months ago!!!
All this talk of Job Centres is making me a bit worried....I have my first appointment next week, do not want to go!! But I have to...
Will love you and leave you, be good everyone.

Forgot to say Hello to Lornameg and to Trazy.
Princess
I really was not trying to get at you, just trying to explain that the thread is still trying to recover from the last time comments were made.
Hello to anyone else new or "lurking" and it is not usually like this - Honest.
Got ingredients for home made fudge so might try to do this tonight unless DD(15) talks me into making yet another chocolate fudge cake- she loves this!!! Thanks to the OP , not sure if it was Thriftlady or Taplady but you have made a very picky 15 year old ecstatic!
Might offer DD the choice between a pasta dish or filled tortillas so she feel special as she is on holiday from school.
Feeling a bitas I don't think we will ever get this house sold and moved but going to tell myself it will all work out in the end.
Going to have a nice long shower in peace and quiet before the family starts demanding to be fed.
Hugs to everybody (princess too if she won't take it the wrong way. The hug smiley looks very dodgy!)"This site is addictive!"

Afternoon Everyone
MSD-See I have posted on the daily :rotfl:
I didnt post yesterday as there was no way I was getting involved in what was going on.I have my opinion but I'm keeping it to myself but maybe everyone should calm down now and let it go.But WS please dont stop posting its so funny reading about what LB gets up to
Well on a more domestic front I've been running round like a headless chicken today. So much for my dreams of pottering round the house and not getting dressed till lunchtime this week.I was up at 6am and out of the door before 9am this morning.I had to pick up some material from a lovely freecycler and ES wanted to spend the money he made from the sale of his snooker table. So we visited Toysrus and he bought another couple Dr Who toys that he's been after. On the way home we nipped into a local playcentre and the kids spent a couple of hours running round like maniacs whilst OH and I shivvered in the near arctic temps in the place:eek: Then it was home to wrap and label some items we sold on Ebay and had to take them to the PO.Then there was lunch to cook and washing up to be done.
My YS vomited in her bed again last night so there are at least 3 loads of washing to be rinsed and washed as well as dried.
Hubby is treating us to a takeaway tonight so the chicken I've been cooking in the oven will have to be cooled and plonked in the fridge till tomorrow

Snowy Owl, I was only trying to express my hurt as it seems I had to take what was said to me without defending myself but I take your point. I have sent you a pm.Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0

Have good evenings all xx0 -
Red ruby its 7.30:eek:  Seemed like a good idea at the time:rotfl: Well actually it was DH that entered me and I just thought why not? Life is far too short to not try things. Given what happened with the loss of a very close family member less than three weeks after the programme was recorded(in May) I guess thats correct. Hovever, I look a fright(you will need W-I-D-E-S-C-R-E-E-N TV) I hate my speaking voice and I look a FRIGHT:eek:   . Also I think Thriftlady and anyone else that can speak french may want to put a contract out on me:o ..........
But s*d it-you are a long time dead and it was a totally fantastic day.
Have a fantastic evening. Ann xxxBlind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
