Afternoon All!
First, I want to say, I had to read yesterday's thread to find out what was going on, and then couldn't believe all the bickering!:o Hey, Life is toooo short!, My Dad has a saying: "Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a mystery, Today is a gift, that's why it's called The Present". Good advice I reckon!:T
DS has gone to work, I'm off to physio later. All alone till 10.30 tonight when DS comes in.
Got a friends parrot to stay for the week, he loves me! Sits on my shoulder, and snuggles into my neck for me to scratch his head!:rotfl:
Don't know what to have for tea yet.. Going to make a teabread tomorrow to take to a mates on Weds. Made one Friday, all gone by Sunday!
Anyway, have a good afternoon, at least the sun's shining!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Afternoon peeps
well i`m not very impressed with w*rk atm, this morning they contacted me to ask if i would work tomorrow and have my day off later in the week, i juggled everything around and said this was ok but now they`ve decided that i can w*rk it as overtime or not at all. When i asked why apparently i can`t change my day off even if i agree and it saves the company money. For crying out loud it was they who suggested it in the first place. I thought that we were supposed to be saving money not spending a lot more than necassary  i`ve now wasted time rearranging everything back to how it was in the first place. Next time they ask a favour i shall just say no.
The hounds had a lovely walk earlier, we walked to one of the highest points and it was beautiful, blue sky and fields with a lovely view, the wind blew all the cobwebs away and we all really enjoyed it. All the mud has been cleaned off them and they are now fast asleep.:D
I took advantage of this and i`ve made 5 pies with the piece of brisket that i cooked in the slowcooker overnight with a can of guinness and some onions, dough is in the bm for rolls and there is a pan of soup bubbling away in the kitchen. I need to clean out the bottom of the fridge again as i managed to spill some gravy so thats my next job before peeling some veg for later.
Tea tonight will be jacket potatoes, some of the cabbage pie thingy that i made yesterday and carrots onions and green beans, hope the pie thingy is ok as one is a little bit well done so lots of gravy will be made
Tru - Hope that your results are ok and that you manage to get your sleep pattern sorted. i`m always all over the place with mine but the shifts have a lot to do with it. I`ve been off the last two days and still wake at 4am.
Moggins - ((((HUGS))))
Aussie - good to see you back
Catch up later peeps
Have a nice afternoon.

I am feeling a bit sad that after yesterdays misunderstandings the Daily thread has gone quiet again. This happened last time people started panic-ing about whether they were OS enough. All I want to say is that everyone is welcome on this board, with all or any opinions. We may not all agree, and we can get a bit protective over posters having a bad time, but I would stil hope we could embrace and accept any point of view on here. As for me, well, we all know I talk a lot, but I do try and post something OS in every post, even if its just about what is for dinner!
So please, everyone who is MIA today for whatever reason - do come on back. Of course, it might just be that all the mums are swamped being mums as it's half term and THEN won't I look silly? *giggles*
Well I spoke to Tristan last night for a few hours. True to form he got mad over nothing and yelled at me for about 10 mins (well, typed in capitals as he wasn't up to talking) but he soon apologised for being an @ss and we were able to talk. Unfortunatly it wasn't great - he is very weak and feeling really bad and I was glad we weren't on mic or cam as I spent most of it in tears. He seemed really down and I know he is in pain and that makes me hurt too.
So - onto other things. Well I baked the rock buns and have just eaten one for breakfast and they are delicious. (She says modestly) The stuffed turkey leg went down well too. Tonight is mince night - I am leaning towards bolognaise. Safe but always delicious I think and the WM is on and I can smell fresh bread so sandwiches for lunch methinks.
Thinking of everyone today and sending lots of love to those who need them. Moggins and Sybil and Penpin and anyone else I haven't mentioned, big hugs to you.
Remember - you can never tell someone you love them too many times, (in my humble opinion) so tell someone today!

The comment might have been tongue in cheek but it hit a very sore spot (or a raw nerve!)"This site is addictive!"

AYE!!!
Hello everybody,
Did 3 loads of washing this morning and hung them out for the first time in weeks....hate clothes hanging around the house, especially towels and bed linen...they need the air.
OH to day hospital for 9.30 this morning, home to do washing and start bread...which I forgot to do until 12.00 so it is still proving, not sure about yeast I am using, its Allinson's dried one which I have found cheaper than the one I was using...(have forgotten name, another sign of old age) but it seems to take ages to work, not in a hurry for bread so will leave it to take its time.
Not sure about what to eat later on, maybe just a simple pasta thing...cream cheese with some herbs as OH has had a four course lunch so will only want something small.
Luca still being a pain about having his medication, have had good advice from WS so am going to try that later, he has lost a lot of weight and looks miserable but seems in good enough form.
Hugs to everyone in need or want, welcome to newbies...there was Trazy yesterday whom I ignored so sorry about that, hugs to all who need a special gentle one, and once again thank you all for being my friends

This is my first visit to your "daily family"...I hope its OK to spend some time with you all. I love this thread, its really cheered me up today.
I definitely qualify for the Old Style bit of the forum...I'm a 61 year old retired nurse, living in South West France. We, DH ans self have been very badly hit by the exchange rate crisis, so are very into saving our centimes at the moment. When we came here our OAP's were paid here in euros at a rate of 1.47....now its 1.01...we're losing money every month. So...an economy drive is on.
Things already decided...
1. Get the allotment going more this year.
2. Freeze stuff in season when its cheap.
3. No online shopping here, but we will make a shopping list and stick to it.
There will be more...
We need to save our pennies to travel to Scotland to see DD and 2 lovely grandchildren!!!
I'm forever finding ways to eat for less, DH has a big appetite, so not all that enthusiastic!
It was -6 degrees this am, DH played golf in long johns...
I made pumpkin soup and did 1 hour on my wii fit
Dinner tonight, grilled gammon offcuts and roasted vegetables, with baked apple stuffed with prunes for pud.
Hope this wasn't too long

Afternoon all, Well this is my third attempt to post on here today:mad: . Aw well.
Not been reading the daily and most other things to be honest as I have a) been trying(and failing dismally:o) to get a bit more organised and sorted in general; b)realised that my time management skills are non existent:o
and c)have been doing a little more work:j :j
Anyway, I woke up today feeling total carp- got the bug that seems to be doing the rounds. Not too bothered as DH is at home this week(half term)so he can cook, will give me loads more time to be on here:j and much more importantly I will be fully recovered by the 7th March when i am off to London:eek:     to see "my boys":j :j :j :j :j :j
Had a huge disaster with my bread yesterday-didn't use the BM as since DH bought me the Kenwood tend to use that. Anyway, everything went ok(or so I thought) got the loaf out thinking it looked a bit well, odd-when i cut into it there was a huge(and I DO mean HUGE!) hole. Is it that I did not knock it back correctly?Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.
:A Level 42- the reason I exist. :A0 -
The comment might have been tongue in cheek but it hit a very sore spot (or a raw nerve!)
Being called a bully hit a raw nerve with me funnily enough. But I expect that my feelings don't matter as I am not considered a member of this "family".Life is too short to waste a minute of it complaining about bad luck. Find joy in the simple things, show your love for those around you and be grateful for all that you have.0
