    Morning all,

Had a lovely lay in this morning, did not get up till 8.30 :D , dd is still in bed, OH had to get up at six to go to work poor thing.

DD and I are off to the cimema today, hopefully to see Benjamin Button, will sneak a drink and crisps in, and I will not pay the terrible prices they charge.

Dinner today will be chicken legs, not sure what to do with them yet, might just roast them and do mash and some veg  .

We had a lovely day yesterday, we took the bikes out through the woods and got very muddy indeed, :T we have not been for a little while, but surprisingly I dont ache this morning :D , we then came home to a lovely roast lamb, which was delish.

I popped up to the local scumerfield as they were closing yesterday, and got come vastly reduced sandwiches for oh today, 4 x muffins for 10p and 24 red roses reduces to £2 :T .

I have our bedding in the wash, will hang it out today as it looks quite nice, will get dd to change hers later.

Halight good luck at the job centre.

Tru, good luck with the results, let us know how you get on.

Mellika, good luck with the job hunting xx

Well better get some breakfast going, have good days all x

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Morning All. Had surprise visit from DS & family this past weekend - rang on Friday to say they were coming! Some frantic tidying in two bedrooms, but it was a lovely weekend!
Need to bake bread today as we seem to have used most of what was stored in the freezer. WM on - a couple more loads to do. Any tips for getting lipgloss off french windows????? (DGD - aged 2!)
Need to get myself to gym, plus a few errands to run in town, dogs to be walked....better make a start!
    ((HUGS)) to all in need.

  • Good morning all.

It's the beginning of a new day, filled with hope and promise. I will endeavour to make it a good one for me. This of course doesn't always happen as life has a way of throwing a wrench or two in the works. Wishing you all a brighter and more peaceful day also.

OS today I have plenty to keep me busy. Cleaning the flat completely. How it can become such a mess in two days is beyond me. I honestly think that dust multiplies while I'm sleeping. ;)

Breakfast was cheese toast. Packed lunch for DH is potato and leek soup, ham sandwich, those nice rice crackers and HM oatmeal cookies. I'll have soup and a roll for lunch. Tea tonight will be something with pork shoulder. I thawed a couple of pieces so that should do us for a few meals this week. Leftover veg from yesterday's roast dinner and ice cream with peanut butter fudge sauce for afters.

does any one have a recipie for bread and butter pudding???? i have a load of brown bread in the freezer to use up....
There are a number on the cooking thread, Using up stale bread I love this one, Joey's Bread Pudding as well. I do add more cinnamon and nutmeg than is called for and let it sit for at least a half hour before baking. I think it's more moist and flavourful that way. Sometimes I half the recipe, other times I put it in smaller pans and freeze one before baking. Adding some fruit makes a nice change also, raisings, tinned peaches well drained etc HTH

Tru, hoping your test results come out well and that your sleep gets sorted. Good luck to you.

Best of luck to Halight and Mellika and anyone else dealing with the job centre. Perhaps it's time someone reminds them that they are government employees, ie public servants. And that if not for people who need and are entitled to JSA, they wouldn't have a job themselves! Yes mistakes and missed paperwork will happen but it seems to be an all the time thing and not just an isolated instance here and there. Rant over.:o

Patentgirl congrats to you DD on receiving a place at art college. That is wonderful!

I'll leave with a link to a poem entitled Don't Look Back if you'd like to read it. It's much too long to post here but well worth a read in my opinion.

Furchild Bree is ready for her second walk so must be going.

Many, many ((((((((Gentle and Warm Hugs to Everyone))))))))))

    Peyton xx

Edited to add: I am in no way am saying that all government employees are inefficient or don't care about people, so please don't take offense.

Halight took me about a month or so to get my money. I was very annoyed at having nothing to live on and couldnt see why it was taking so long. Apparently now our claims from herein West London have to be dealt with in Belfast. They said it was taking longer to process cos of the high number of claims (this was well before Xmas so may have gotten even worse now) I didnt really understand this as I am at the same address etc as the last time I claimed , have no kids, no council tax, no rent etc.. it is as easy as looking at my savings. My claim can be assessed in about 10-15 mins tops.

Had to put my foot down and call them a few times but then managed to rush them along and get it looked at rather than sitting on a desk as I very well could have had no money to put food on table over the Xmas hols.

    Good luck.

    Good Morning guys.

Today I feel 100% finally. I do not want a dose of that ever again - no way, no how.  :D The kids are playing quietly at the moment and I am enjoying a second cup of coffee. We ended up making a victoria sandwich, fruit cake and the cheeseburger impossible pie yesterday, the latter is all gone! - didn't get past lunch. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Plans today are to let the kids make up a couple of lasagnes (under supervision) - 1 for tea and 1 for the freezer, put the small bookcase together and then clean the hall carpet tonight and that's the hall finished. The mountain of ironing will be glanced at briefly and then completely ignored for today. Apart from that I need to trim the boys hair with the clippers, (very OS ;) ) the usual clean through, and keep the kids occupied for the day.

Sybil - Little bear has a big virtual family here who want to know if he has flushed anything important down the lavvy yet? I remember my first discovering the loo and back then I had one of those things on the side that cleaned the loo and turned the water blue - yep he found it, played with it, wore it, painted with it, had a blue mouth and ended up in A&E with a panic stricken mum. Needless to say the only extra thing the loo sees now is elbow grease. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pen-pin, you OK hun? Big gentle hugs to you. xxx

I have to say my experiences with the job center was after Eric died but they bent over backwards to help us. The forms I filled in they checked first to make sure everything was OK, they squeezed me in to see the lone parent adviser who worked out financially the best scenario for us as a family, they made copious photocopies of all certificates (birth, marriage and death) and certified them. The lady I dealt with phoned me several times to clarify things or pass on information and was always on hand to take my calls however trivial they were. There should be one of her in every job center I reckon.

    Anyway, another novel written :o

    Take care all,

Yes I did say mischief, for as the comment was probably made without malice, making it to one of the more vulnerable of our "family" is IMHO a form of bullying, which I know the person making it abhors.

    DG

I am sorry that you chose to drag this up again today.....

Yesterday's over reaction was shocking enough to me but to accuse me of bullying is beyond the pale. icon9.gif

Thankfully, judging by those who have supported me both privately and on the thread, not everyone is as suspicious as you.

I will not post anymore unless I am asked a specific question as I will not post anywhere where I am thought to be bullying a vulnerable member of "your family".

  • Good morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Halight, I hope your money comes through soon.

I had a lovely long lie until 9am! I have just had my porridge, next stop the shower. I haven't seen the boys yet but i can tell they have had breakfast.

I need to pop to Lidl's and do some baking this afternoon. All the cookies were devoured when they were watching the rugby yesterday.

I am also going to make a pot of sweet potato and chorizo soup and some macaroni cheese. Then I need to do some course work.

What a mess with the jobcentre. I'd been puting off going for a while until we just couldn't keep up with rent and bills. A friend who works there said "you'll be fine, they love it when someone finally comes along who WANTS to work". Well no such luck, I was treated badly, partly for being foreign. Well I have lived and worked here for 3 and a half years, I'm not trying to live off the govt :(

Nope they can't handle it. I got sent once on some compulsory course where I had to go to some grotty building in a rundown area and do jobsearch for 8 hrs a day. Yes 8 HOURS.It was full of people who didnt want to work or had trouble finding it for some reason - mostly bad english and there were a lot of very obese folks there who had difficulty finding work due to that.(their words)

At home before being sent there I used to apply for about 30 or 40 a day in a period of about 30 mins to an hr.I have a degree and lots of experience and really wanted to work. They couldnt handle me. It was really for people who had learning difficulties or who needed help with cvs and applications etc. They told me I could NOT use my own cv and must apply for jobs using some form of a "cv" they made for me which was full of mistakes and inaccuracies.

You had to ask them for time off for interviews and after a while I was getting so many interviews that they did not like it.They were meant to set you up in a placement but never did.

I was actually offered a job while on the course there and when I went to them to tell them I would be leaving to start work they insisted on being really funny with me. Apparently they called the company and not only checked that I would be working there, they started to make a real nuisance of themself informing the company that they would be calling regularly etc to check up on me. The company then rescinded the job offer as they didnt want to take me on and get all these calls and hassles from the training people.

Needless to say I went back to the Jobcentre and told them sorry but I am refusing to go back there.Luckily this did not affect my money.

I ended up having to write to my local MP about this as this job scheme I was sent on by the dole COST me a job.
