  • OOh - I can't wait to put a face to the name IYKWIM - I'd say "Good Luck" but I suppose you already know how you did :D How exciting!!

On an OS note: have just put jacket spuds in oven, and washed up a sinkful of glasses.
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

This is my first visit to your "daily family"...I hope its OK to spend some time with you all. I love this thread, its really cheered me up today.
I definitely qualify for the Old Style bit of the forum...I'm a 61 year old retired nurse, living in South West France. We, DH ans self have been very badly hit by the exchange rate crisis, so are very into saving our centimes at the moment. When we came here our OAP's were paid here in euros at a rate of 1.47....now its 1.01...we're losing money every month. So...an economy drive is on.
    Things already decided...
    1. Get the allotment going more this year.
    2. Freeze stuff in season when its cheap.
    3. No online shopping here, but we will make a shopping list and stick to it.

    There will be more...

We need to save our pennies to travel to Scotland to see DD and 2 lovely grandchildren!!!

I'm forever finding ways to eat for less, DH has a big appetite, so not all that enthusiastic!

It was -6 degrees this am, DH played golf in long johns...
I made pumpkin soup and did 1 hour on my wii fit
Dinner tonight, grilled gammon offcuts and roasted vegetables, with baked apple stuffed with prunes for pud.

    Hope this wasn't too long

Red ruby its 7.30:eek:  Seemed like a good idea at the time:rotfl: Well actually it was DH that entered me and I just thought why not? Life is far too short to not try things. Given what happened with the loss of a very close family member less than three weeks after the programme was recorded(in May) I guess thats correct. Hovever, I look a fright(you will need W-I-D-E-S-C-R-E-E-N TV) I hate my speaking voice and I look a FRIGHT:eek:   . Also I think Thriftlady and anyone else that can speak french may want to put a contract out on me:o ..........
But s*d it-you are a long time dead and it was a totally fantastic day.
Have a fantastic evening. Ann xxx

Evening all - just checking in before I read all your messages. Hugs to those who need em, good luck to those who need that too and welcome to the newbies!

Do any of you good folks have a filter coffee machine - either at home or access at work? I have a query.

So sorry to hear about the carp you're getting at the job centre it's soul destroying but don't let it dent your lovely positive attitude :T You're probably eating your tea of corned beef hash - yum yum - now but i hope you see this message. Have a good evening it sounds like your twins will sleep tonight after their busy day :D

    hello all:hello:
eeeek I've had 2 glasses of wine already......
Well...it was a luxury tea so had to have wine - steak pie, mash, carrots and cabbage :p:p
    Ok, on to OS stuff....
Well, the cabbage and carrots needed using up and the mash was left over from yesterday :D
Tonight's plans include a walk with the doggies, cleaning the bathroom mirrors and then a bit of TV I think. Early night as well!!
Hope everyone has a peaceful evening.

So you don't say "aye" then? If you want to protract the argument why not do it via PM rather than have a public slanging match? Nobody is stopping you from ignoring the comment you didn't like and carrying on as before.

    I say aye!!
    AYE AYE AYE AYE AYE
And may this argument never rear its ugly head again.
Please shut the !!!! up if you want to whine as nobody wants to hear it

THIS and good luck with the jobcentre. I won't get into the arguments I have had more than enough of online dramas over the years but just want to say Princess this is not a clique. I am new here myself and don't know anyone really but have felt the accepting warmth from Old Stylers here on this thread. Nobody here hates you. Just try not to be so contentious and on the defensive. We all have bad days when it is easy for us to find ourselves dragged into these dramas - time to take a step back and a deep breath and put ourselves in other peoples shoes. All we need here is patience and understanding and be accepting of differences of personality, circumstances and attitude.

    Share the love people!!
