Ex- TSA they had 23 cases with Trading standards last time i looked. I was told by ex salesman from aquashield they have a 76% recall rate of which about 10% get a callout. Roof coating as a product is a good thing when done right, shop around. ALWAYS get a few quotes. Damage to the internal roof space.felt etc is not normal. Call the boss i Glascow rather than the local office.0 -
I had my roof coated recently, and was impressed with it, our roof now looks better than roofs that were replaced by the council on only a few houses last years, they did break a piece of guttering whilst doing the work, and we are still having to chase them up to fix it, but the product sprayed on to the roof is a kind of rubberised coating, the quote I got was circa £2k but this was still £2k cheaper than another rival. The price quoted wasn't haggled either, we just found that to reasonable and went with it, we'll see whether it pays off!
Notice i'm not a first time poster either, maybe gullible/naive, definately not selling, unless you use my name and address and for my commission we'll go halvers(hahahahaha)Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
:money:Profits are rolling in because roofs are being rushed and corners cut. If they put less pressure on their painters and blah blah j
Just remember that there are other large, experienced and very customer focussed operators out there doing the same thing, cheaper.. search and thou shall find.... don't put up with '50% discount if you sign on the day/now', deals. STOP think and look around, they will come back soon with an even lower price if you take your tiime, thats the sales system in place. Showhome..... every house is a show home.:rotfl:
roof-coaters are up there with the birds, why moss around?:beer:0 -

I've been reading this thread with interest as I recently had my roof coated by Aquashield.
Reading through the posts it's obvious that some employees (or perhaps only one with too much spare time) are trying to get business for this company.
I recently had a leaking roof and a local reputable company came out and replaced a tile which had through time become brittle and had a hole in it. They explained that this happens to concrete tiles and we would eventually need a new roof.
Aquashield targetted our area and because our roof had recently leaked and also the roofers information we decided to go ahead with it. We were shown a DVD which showed a professional job and signed up. We were led to believe from this that the job would be done over a few days including time for inspection, repair, cleaning with fungicide and allowing the roof to dry out totally before the water-repellant coloured coating is applied.
From start to finish the job took 3 hours max. There was a lot of debris from the cleaning left for us to sweep up. I have a cracked tile on my lower kitchen roof which I hadn't noticed before. I have no idea if it was there before the job was done or during but either way it's just been sprayed over.
I thought it was all a bit unprofessional and when I approached the workman to ask if he or any of the others were roofers (no inspection had been done so I was a bit confused considering I thought they'd been there to powerwash it and by now the whole job was done!!) his replied " why? what's wrong with the roof?
The product they use is (or so I was told) from Johnston & Johnston and dries on sealing the tiles. I must say that it's obvious from the way the water on our porch roof pools and runs off that it works to an extent. It's definately not just paint!
My neighbour also signed up and they made more mess ( two doors down and even our garden was covered in grit. ) and caused water damage inside her house.
I don't regret having the work done but was disappointed in the workmanship.
Only time will tell if it was worth the money.......0 -
My, My,
What a lot of spamming and urban myths around this company and subject. I am an industry expert and will give you advice as to what to look for in roof restoration without mentioning my company. I will not respond to all the different comments but will give you a brief overview.
The concept of Roof Renovation has been around for about 40 years and there are currently around 8-10 significant manufacturers/distributors in Europe.
Roof Renovation is only suitable if the underlying structure (battens felt etc) are stucturally sound and the tiles are strong enough.
The roof has to be properly and completely cleaned (absolutely no moss or lichen remaining) before it is suitable for coating.
Before coating, the pointing has to be fully repaired and dried. this will take at least 24 hours to harden, longer when it is cold. and broken or chipped tiles must be replaced.
A specialist primer is invariably required to either build up a rough tile or to bond powdery or fibrous tiles. This should be followed by two top coats at the required thickness.
Each coat should be fully dry before the next coat is applied, in cold weather only one coat per day may be possible and the roof must be completely dry before any type of acrylic coating is applied or adhesion will not take place leading to rapid failure. Manufacturers installation guidelines should always be followed.
None of these types of coating are moss proof as the biocides to make them so are illegal under EU law. This moss proof claim is widespread in the industry but illegal under the new CPA (consumer Protection Act) as a misleading claim for the product.
No 10 year warranty is valid unless this is backed up by the manufacturer. Ask for their warranty.
In summary Roof Renovation is a well proven system which when done correctly with the right product can save money. Shop around, check the warranty with the manufacturer and only part with your money when the job is 100% to your satisfaction.
Never, ever, buy this from travellers. We hear nothing but horror stories about their work, and by their nature they are not there the next year if anything goes wrong.
Hope this helps

aquashield do not hold any patents and do not have a unique product, what they do have is a canvassing team *£1, manager *£1, saleman *£5.70, sales manager *£1, fitting team *£5.00 Product *£5.00 and running costs, profits and all sold by the *square meter The coating is a BS standard ISO 9002 product for concrete roof tiles. don't call the product afterall we were all paying far too much for petrol a few months ago!!!! Roofers have had it toooooo easy for toooo long. And yes there are some cheapo tiles from spain, india and china now available, but re-roofing an average house say 1400 tiles @ £1.75 each (+vat), felt @ £80 a roll (2-3) , Skip £100, Scaffold £800, 2-3 guys £900 a week, 200mtrs 2x1 lathing @ £0.48p ft =£250, Now my maths isn't great but........... if tiles last 25-35 years, I won't be around to enjoy my new roof.0
