Right hey guys my name is Malley, Im not new to the site but Im new to the forums. I was browsing through and seen this thread about the company I work for. So i thought to my self hey lets see what the general public think about AQS and to my amazement the verdict was 50/50 rather than a more positive attitude towards the company in which I expected.

Im a canvasser for AQS and Ive worked with them since about October/November 07 and the work ive done with company the majority of the time has been positive.

Heres a little brief about the company.

The company was started by a Scottish man who seen a gap in the market for his roof coatings. So he started work in Scotland and found out that the gap he thought that was there for his product, Was there.

So as the company progressed and his profit got bigger he worked his way down the country opening up brachs up and down the country. Being a Cardiff Lad the nearest branch to me is Cwmbran. And to be honest some of the jobs in my local area are not worth the Sum of money the customer paid. But, A big but...

In defense of the company when it 1st landed in Wales how did they know who were the good roof fitters and who were the cowboys. Theres only one way to find out and thats by checking there work out as they were doing it. So of course some people had bad jobs but the bad jobs got the bad fitters sacked and they have kept doing this intil they got a good army of fitters fitting to the highest standard. And now everytime a customer buys the product from me I know that the work they are getting done is good value for money.

And if there is any people on this site who have had bad expierences with AQS then I apoligise on there behalf. But I can gurantee you that profits are up and the company is just going to get bigger because 90% of the people who get it done are 100% happy with there work and would recomend us to a friend.

O and By the way I havnt just come on here to protect AQS I do intend to keep posting on this site before I get some pathectic digs of some of the users on here.
Profits are rolling in because roofs are being rushed and corners cut. If they put less pressure on their painters and channeled more acumen into customer care, they would have a reputation second to none. Stop fooling potential customers with the scripted promo video cos it certainly doesn't pan out as it says. Ladders are crashed against gutters (no stand-off devices are used as per HSE guidelines). No ropes or harnesses are used on roofs. I never saw a hard hat on anyone. They work from leaning ladders where platforms are more appropriate..........need I go on? Then as you go about your normal domestic business, more and more over-spray becomes apparent. My advice?? Roof coating serves a purpose, just choose the company carefully and don't pay a penny until you've inspected everything with a fine tooth comb............end of rant!!!

AQ are expensive try www.roof-coaters.co.uk based in cheshire, they are very good and made a great job of our roof two years ago. and offer credit card facilities, 10 year warranty 5 colours, and free survey.
This service is good if done right and if you are over 50 , why fit a new roof that is gong to last 50 years or so.....

PS re-roofing is an alternative but messy, expensive and in most cases avoidable.

this company did my roof a few weeks back and i have nothing but praise for the way they carried out the work,
i had a quote from aquashield and they beat it and did it when stated, and the staff were courteous and professional and even cleaned up in next doors as some debris had blown on to there and it looks immaculate now.
    well done:beer: :money:

This is as bad as those brickwork sealant con-men that were all the rage a few years back.

    Total snake oil.
  • These people are a joke, don't use them. They promise to sort out all the problems with the roof before painting it and just show up and paint. My roof now has a major leak that they came out and said they'd repaired. My guttering guy went up there and checked and I have 8 tiles that need replacing and the flashing is in bits thanks to the high pressure hose. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

I totally agree with you, an Aquashield paint job is no substitute for a new roof. Old tiles become brittle and so a coat of paint won't stop them breaking. And consider old rotten felt and battens, does the Aquashield coating magically restore those as well? All in all Aquashield is false economy, you wouldn't respray a 15 year old rusty banger instead of buying a new car, so why do it with your roof?
  • From the Aquashield site:
Our installers, already trained roofing professionals, attend a residential course to become Aquashield technicians and fully understand the process from the initial clean through to the final cosmetic detailing.

What a load of twaddle! I personally know two people who have just started a job with Aquashield, and they have never done any roofing work in their lives, nor undergone an Aquashield training course. I've heard a few horror stories too, foot through roof, and paint washed off all over homeowner's car.

Does anyone else know any Aquashield employees?

    I live in Manchester.
This company are doing well here In failsworth and Newton heath boards up in many a garden.
I don't know what it costs but the end results looks good.
To be fare I have watched them turn up in a morning, lay sheeting out over gardens go about there work in a very professional manner and spend time cleaning up in gardens on both sides of the property they are working on.

I am of the opinion it is up to you whether you think this is a good product or not.
As many users will know I work in the building industry and am of the old school train of thought which says put what ever it costs to the price of a re roof..

I am assuming this must be a fare bit cheaper as they would get no custom.
Re roof on these houses would cost approx £3 k
