    Hi Andy.
    First ask yourself why?
Why would anyone do this to their roof?
Forget any loyalty to the salesman, as far as i'm concerened he is selling you a pig in a poke.
Only time will tell, I may be wrong but I think I and other roofers will have more work in the future putting on new roofs (which is what you should do if your roof is as bad as these salesmen tell you it is) because of the problems this stuff will cause in the long run.
A chap down the road from me, elderly, almost had it done but I know his daughter and son in law, they had told him his tiles are porous and the roof will sag with the weight of the water.
The neghbour called me to ask about it and told me she had been told the same.
I told her to stroll around the village and see how many 'saggy' roofs she could see.
    That's right, NONE!
Noone NEEDS this stuff spraying on their roof, we have done without it for this long, maybe, just maybe, if it was applied to a new roof it could help but covering a problem with a solution that will 'seal' the roof (they are meant to breath), is asking for grief IMHO.
  • This firm is a joke. They made a mess of my neighbours house b4 sending salesmen round to me..6 times. To say I was less then pleased after the 3rd or 4th time is understatement of the century.Ive worked in the building industry for a number of years now and quite frankly their service sucks.First they pressure wash your roof thereby ensuring damage to any tiles that were of questionable integrity in the first place ..oh..pray your felt is ok or u get a nice little flood too, next they spray nice shiny paint on it,tough luck if u didnt want a roof that would blind aircraft pilots.
Their website makes some dubious claims about roof tiles having a 20 year lifespan. In short these guys seem to b having to resort to spurious claims and dodgy business practices simply to further thier franchise.Presumably someone somewhere is selling them all the shiny paint and making a bundle.A 10 year guarantee from a company that will,I'm sure, cease trading b4 that 10 years is up isnt worth the paper its written on,in short, this is a con,I' go with Dori2o and explore options with local builders, sure u run a risk of hiring cowboys, but in my opinion with aquashieldcoatings u would b hiring total cowboys.

    ALWAYS go with reccomendations.
Please stop trying to save a few quid by getting a low quote.
I have been roofing for over 20 years.
I NEVER expect to be the cheapest.
I don't want to be the cheapest.
My price allows me to be honest and make a good job.
I will not be 'knocked down'.
If people want to go 'cheap' so be it.
    They will call me eventually.

Hmmmm, a Google Earth search shows 3LL to be a private dwelling off Crutchley Avenue, 3QD is, indeed, Mill Lane.
People are obviously right to be wary of these folk.
Wonder what the legal position is, very misleading.

the legal position is clear. every ltd company is a legal entity in itself.
any legal problems are with the company and not the address nor the directors.
hence the reason to check out new/ish companies very carefully before spending your money with em.
companies less than 3 yrs old need special attention. esp in the home improvement sector. they tend to come and go like yoyo,s.
    Get some gorm.

So are they allowed to mislead folk and hide behind the 'Ltd' bit?

You cant open a forum anywhere without the aqua!!!!! boys being mentioned. The Midlands version is a franchise and as the HQ in Glascow are not much better. Roof Coating is an old well proven product that has it's place. The problem ,as the Rogue Trader expert stated (who was like Lewie is a roofer so why would he know anything about technical coatings???), the problem is the people doing the job. Most AQ staff are not roofers, not even builders, they will take anyone on and if they are lucky 2 days training. Roof coating in Austrialia is massive (stop, don't give me the weather angle). I agree with everything above except that any trader will never give in to a new idea that takes work off them. Like plumbers, roofers have had it easy for many years, so all the above comments are simply 'opinions', and should be taken that way.
15 years ago, roof coating domestic roofs was brought to the UK, the only issue with these six pages is the company, AQUASHIELD in many guises have shot the industry in the foot by quoting £45 sq mtr, cut to £38 a meter for an instant order, and a further show home discount for a sign added. Their warranty is not worth anything, they do not return to warranty claims, every single person is a self employed contractor all on a commission only basis.
To end: the rogue traders 'expert' stated in his opening speach.
quote " There is nothing wrong with the coating process itself, it is the people doing the job that is the problem. Its takes practise and experience like any other skill. Cowboys should rustle cows.
After seven years in that trade (no longer and years before Aqua!!!!! came along), as Lewie states, we did is right, for the right money and only got work from leaflets and word of mouth. 989 roofs in 7 years, no major complaints, no trading standards, no warranty claims and insurance backed 10 year warranty........ shame we have retired eh???

In many ways, yes. Set up a limited company and much of the risk stays with the company rather than you. There are plenty of companies going bust at the moment - the debt stays with the old company and a new company takes over with the same management team but none of the debt. A trick that Paul Daniels would be proud of

They were advertising on Gumtree some time back, with little to go on, and when I contacted them via an e-mail link, about what kind of work they were offering, they kind of told me, said it wasn't quite like selling, but it was commission based, but I was supposed to get more information, and after calling the guys mobile number for about 3 days, he never answered, so I gave up.

Another guy called me yesterday about it, saying he'd found my info on file, and that it had changed a bit, new commission structure yada, yada, yada, and would I be interested in a meet to discuss it further, so I thought it wouldn't harm

He said he'd get in touch later on, but I had gone out when he called. I used 1471 to check.

I was going to call that number back today, but I got another phone call from one of those automated things, telling you about important stuff etc etc, so the 1471 for that guys number was lost.

I wass actually looking for any contact number on the internet, when I happened across this, so I think after reading things, I am not going to have any follow up contact with this company, especially after reading the stuff about rogue traders, as I do not want to be associated with any company, that is getting badly ripped on by TV programmes like that.
