knowloads. I know plenty of what the roof coverings do to the 'breathability' of the roof.
Roofs are designed from new build to breath, they have a bit of a problem breathing with a rubberised caoting on the tiles, effectively sealing the roof, all the warm air rises and condensates as it is literally stuck.

You say you did 989 roofs in 7 years, perhaps you actually were good, perhaps it needs time for the roofs to show problems, it takes more than that for treated timber to rot through condensation.
Insurance backed guarantees?? Not worth the paper, try claiming on any insurance policy, there is always a way out for them.

As for the work bit, it wont take any work off me, like I said, I can, if I wish, make a killing from putting the mistakes right, it will, in my opinion, happen, how far down the line I don't know but it will.
There have been a few done in the village in which I live, most people who see them seem to find them funny, they stick out like a sore thumb!
It's their money and they can do with it what they will, I hope, for their sakes, you are right and I am wrong, I can live with that.
    Cheers :D

And I quote from another web site selling roof coating........."Nasa developed insulating ceramics for use in the space program, Millions of micro spheres are incorporated in to our protective roof coatings each micro sphere is a tiny hollow ceramic ball no larger than a grain of sand. The centre of the ball is not only hollow, but has had all the air removed and is a vacuum. It is a known fact that nothing can travel via conduction through a vacuum, not even heat. The resulting micro sphere is, in effect, a mini thermos flask, reflecting the heat back in to your roof as it try's to escape saving you energy, saving you money, and saving the environment.".......
Now ask yourself a few things:
    1) Do the tiles used on the shuttle that withstand 240,000 degrees on re-entry, need roof coating????? And if not why are NASA spending money of this project?
    2) If the tile itself is coated with these tiny 'flasks', the gaps around them still let in and out air, so how many degrees of heat saving does this wonder coating actually offer.
    3) What parts in 'ceramics' is made of Acrylic..... which all roof coatings are made from? (Apart from tubbaware).

    Come on guys.......

The whole point is that the coating is breathable and that the tiles are not sealed around the gaps, they still move, expand, contract and breath.

Acrylic coatings were made for concrete surface finishing long before roof -use was 'invented' there is nothing at all wrong with the product, its the twots thats are selling it.
I have just passed a council estate where all roof's except the 'right to bought' ones, have been re-roofed in the most orange tiles I have ever seen, Now they stand out, for all the wrong reasons.
Changing subject what about Marleys new 'saving the planet' carbon sucking tiles. Probably to make up for the tons they product making concrete in the first place ! And even better seen below..... even NASA are making tile coat now.... glad I'm out of it.

Wish i was out of it, i'm bored.
As for 'saving the planet', 'green energy', 'recycling', etc etc, i don't believe ANY of it. They really aren't interested in saving energy, they are just jumping on the band wagon and hoping gullible fools will buy the latest 'green fad'.
I just get on with my life, I certainly don't lose sleep trying to be 'green'.
We are told to save water while the idiots that 'lead' this country fill their swimming pools and claim money for cleaning moats!!!
See, now look what you've gone and done, made me put me political head on Aunt Sally :D
  • I'm really worried about this now. i've signed up with them today after getting the 'sgin in the front garden' discount. I have 7 days to cancel the visit from today. Do you think i'll have any problems?

What i'm worried about is they now have my bank details.

    Hi matt.
    Why worry?
You don't have to have it done if you don't want to.
Like i've said, i may be wrong, but, ask yourself what exactly is wrong with your roof?
Is it leaking, does it look shabby? (it will look something when they have finished).
Would you have actually have gone looking for someone to coat your roof? If not, you are only having it done due to pressure selling.

If YOU are happy, go ahead.
If not and you are worried about your bank details, cancel and phone your bank for advice.

CANCEL NOW..... if you have taken the credit agreement you have 21 days, If not 7 days. THEY WILL tell you that you may have to pay 80% of contract fee, this is CR*P and is not shown on the terms (see back of your contract, not mentioned so not valid). Don't be put off but Search: roof-coaters on google and get a second price or a third. AQS are the most expensive and rarely come back to warranty claims.
Which area are you in as some are franchises and some are a part of the Glascow crew???

I was more worried about the bank details than the roof to be honest.
  • Starting to get worried now. I've sent them numerous e-mails as I was told the cancellation was to be done in writing but have had no response (i've sent the first of about 5 e-mails on Saturday). Today I sent a recorded delivery letter to the cancellation address but was told the address was registered to Briggs Roofing, not Aquashield. And I can't get them on the phone either.
  • Well I just got an e-mail from Briggs Roofing saying they are not part of Aquashield.
