Thanks N-I-D :) I think she said my apr was 50% something... and my limit was £250. I'm mainly using it to boost my credit rating up to be honest.

What happens if I stick to the minimum payment DD? How do they work it? Do they take the min payment out if I haven't paid by a certain date? I will be wanting to pay in full, i'm just unsure how it works.

Thanks again, you've been a great help throughout the thread

    Hiya

If you pay the min each month via DD then all that'll happen Vanquis will send the statement to you and at the bottom it was tell you 'for your records only' and they will tell you the amount they are taking which will always be at least 14 days in the future.

If you send a direct payment via banking or something, this will reduce the balance and interest.

If you make a payment via DD then want to pay more, easy just send a cheque or do via online banking.

If for any reason you pay the full balance say by card, and this was before the statement date then you'd still have a DD due for whatever is left, 14 days or so after the statement is produced.

Make sense? lol - hope so!

Actually, payments was something I wanted to ask.

I have requested full payment by direct debit but also want to fire off payments as and when I have the cash. So, if I fire off money before the statement date, it should appear on the statement, thereby reducing the balance and the full amount payable? Thats obvious, but if I receive the statement and then fire off some money thus reducing the balance, would the full payment they take equal the amount on the statement or the current now lower balance?

The above should also answer this for you Sky.....

The words "letter in next few days" sounds ominous BUT on the plus side they asked you for ID as opposed to a straight decline.
Here's hoping the 'letter' contains a welome pack and a shiny new card.
My card and 90% of statements so far have arrived on a Saturday morning so get up early, get a nice comfortable chair behind the front door and be ready to chase the postman if he bypasses your house :rotfl:

You are almost as bad as me, the postman always delivers at around 10am on Saturdays, (as opposed to about 5pm in the week!) when I am expecting something I watch the door like a hawk!

Our sofa's look out toward the front garden so I can see as he walks up the path!

Poor man has a heart attack when the door swings open!

Awaiting my "Upgraded" letter.. DW keeps joking that they will send the famous "have you been upgraded" envelope and when I open it, there will be a big "NO, YOU HAVEN'T" in red letters!

    Hi folks

I have received my statement today and Vanquis are increasing my apr by 6 to 41.20%, I phoned them and was told due to credit crunch they are increasing all apr's by 6.

    Has anyone had this?

Nope but I'm not due a statement until the 5th. 6% is terrible. They already have high rates, I'm sure they are doing better than most other credit card companies. Due to credit crunch? What a load of crap.

Yeah I agree, I might just cancel the account as the women also told me they never descrease apr's on anyones account, this may or not be true.

I was told they do. But no doubt having the rates decreased will be very rare.

Suppose everyone will ditch them anyway when they are in the position to. I dont intend to keep mine when I can get a mainstream card. Good that people can get an opportunity with them though when nobody else will touch you and take a risk.
