  • start you off with £250 limit to see if your a minimum payer then quickly raise your limit until you join the I'm paying £200 a month in interest club :(

That is a very true fact.I went from £250-£2500 in 18months and never went anywhere near even half of the limit.

Closed the account a month ago as now got mainstream cards.

Such a relief to get rid of it from my wallet.

Saying that if used properly(wisely) it does what it says and is a great credit repair tool.

Opened my Vanquis Granite in July 2011, first statement August 2011. I was told I was under review for a limit increase in October, as they tried to get me to take out PPI, sorry Repayment Plan. Still no sign of any increase now been with them 7 months. Always pay the day after getting my statement and always in full. So I don't know how they work out who gets and who doesn't get increases.

I can't help but wonder what would happen if I took the card close to its limit and then only paid minimum payment plus £20 for 2 months????? I won't be doing it though not at their APR.

Who is this Mr Crooke Tremour - 88 mentioned emailing and got a limit increase from? I wouldn't mind dropping him a line asking just what you have to do to warrant an increase!

Simon, mine is the same as yours, that's why I queried whether anyone had higher than £500 on Granite. (I'm sure I saw in the T&C's £500 was the max the card would go to, but someone on here says they have higher!)

I've been with Cap 1, had one increase from £200 to £800 in the year, and also got accepted for their progress card - but nothing from Granite.

My Granite is £250 Kyresa, I got a Aqua card at the same time which was also £250 and they increased my limit to £500 in December (got the letter in November). My Cap One is £200 and I've just had my 5th statement, so am hoping for an increase soon from them....... maybe!!!

Vanquis is obviously the worst card with the highest APR but it annoys me that they said I was under review after 3 months and then nothing. I posted on here at the time that when the guy that rang me didn't get me to sign up for the repayment plan option I got the impression that any limit increase was somehow tied to taking the PPI. Now I know that these sales guys can't give credit increases and that it is done by automated systems but it did make me feel that way and then following that call and 4 months on still no increase.

So call me cynical but there we go. As far as I am aware Kyresa the Granite card can be increased up to £3000, mind you at their APR's I don't know if I'd want it that high.
  • After my complaint letter to Peter crook I recieved a letter today saying my credit limt is being increased from £150 to £550 next month.

I'm happy after finally recieving an increase 9 months after having my card.

Please could let me have the email address you used to contact this guy? I am going to ask the question if there is no increase forthcoming next month.

would you mind scanning the letter up because this would be a first for Vanquis and the proof will show a lot of disbelievers that they did do it.

    Thanks

  • I applied for a vanquis card on the 4th January and have received an email with the credit agreement terms and conditions in but so far haven't heard from them either by phone or post.

When I applied online it said my application was being referred and also I notice that my credit file has been searched by them on the 12th January... Does anyone know how long it might take for it to process and whether it sounds likely that it will go through?

I dont want a card with a high limit on, just one i could use for the odd time bank balance is running low and money not going in for a few days, I would be paying off the balance in full each time as I know the interest rates can be quite high.

    Thanks

    Rachel
