I've just applied for a Vanquis card and was rejected, but approved for a Vanquis "Alpha Visa" card.

Seems like the Capital One Classic situation, but with a slight difference that you have to commit to a direct debit for the minimum payments each month and the starting credit limit is £100 pounds.

Searched this forum for information but haven't turned up anything yet either. Says this on the site regarding the "Alpha Visa" card ..
You'll start with an easy to manage credit limit up to £1,000.
You could get a credit limit increase after your 4th statement when you stay within your credit limit, make your payments on time and make use of your credit limit without going over your limit.
And further increases every 4 months, leading to an upgrade to the Vanquis Visa Card.
Potential to improve your credit history, if you make your payments on time and don't go over your credit limit.

Anyway, i've gone for it so we'll see how we go :)

there is a thread about the alpha visa within the subprime post and also a link to the FAQ on it.

try searching again, it is here http://www.vanquis.co.uk/alpha-faq think you may have searched only in main site rather than forum. hope that helps

thanks. they called me this morning and it's all been confirmed and processed and i'll be getting it in "around 14 days" apparently which is cool. i don't mind the DD because i don't plan on using it on a great deal, mainly just the odd tesco home delivery here and there.

How long did it take for someone to apply to know a decision whether they have been accepted or not?

I've applied just before/after Christmas - I gave them my Driver's liscence number over the phone last week, this week i phoned them up and they said application is still processing, they said something about the Christmas period/back log ect,

anyone think i will get accepted? just want to know!!!!!!

if you've got a poor history usually £150 - £250, if you've got a history on the repair probably £500.
  • To me Vanquis study their customers and see who's going to make them the most interest?

They then end up with gold cards and a credit limit of £3000 and interest of £200 a month being paid back with nothing paid off the balance.

Start you off with £250 limit to see if your a minimum payer then quickly raise your limit until you join the I'm paying £200 a month in interest club :(

Read on the debt forums there are loads in the same boat with Vanquis visa but thank god a lot aren't going to be keeping this card long and nearly most pay off the balance each month.
