I've had my Vanquis card 9 months now, started off with a £150 limit and 49.99% APR and still have those... I tried speaking to customer service to ask why I've not had my limit looked at.

My wife applied the same time as me, started off the same and has had 2 increases since (£150 > £250 > £500), Some months I pay the double the min. payment others I clear around £100. I usually keep the balance at £40 - £100 as I use it for petrol, my wife only ever pays per min repayment. I just applied for a Capital One card and got accepted so I hope they are more generious with the credit limits, I dont want to use them but having a limit of £150 doesn't make me feel trusted.

pay it off in full every month.
  • Get my next Vanquis increase on my next statement on December 21st - When will my account update and show the increased credit limit? On the 21st or 22nd? Thanks

Vanquis give you the limit 30 days after the statement date, so if your statement is Dec 21st you'll get your increase on 20th January

was just gonna ask the same question, as i got an increase from £500 to £1250(first increase), and it said in letter from next statement, my statement was on 24th of this month, so with xmas and boxing day being deferred till tuesday, i thought i would get increase on wed 28th, must say that is a bit sneaky, as they do say on letter increase from next statement, but if it is 30 days after then that makes it day before the statement after that
Take every day as it comes!!
  • Good evening all,

Had a vanquis credit card for 15 months and no problems at all.

My starting credit limit was £250 I can now have from next month £1750!!!!!
It's the third increase I have had.
Is there any other credit card on the market worth applying for?
I got declined by Natwest a month or so ago.
    Any ideas much appreciated!!!

Cap 1 is your next stop - assuming you're not running a balance on the vanquis, if you are, don't take another 39% interest card!!
  • Hi guys,

Just been accepted for a Vanquis card with 250£ limit and a shockingly high APR of 59%.This is my first credit card and i had some newbie questions:-

1.If I manage to pay any balance in full the first month, will i still be charged any interest?
2.What would be the consequences of withdrawing money from a cash machine with the vanquis credit card?
3.Will i get a card limit increase faster if i pay balances in full?
4.How long should i wait before applying for another card?

    Thank you all.

    1. No, as long as you clear the balance by the due date.

    2. You will be charged a very high rate of interest from day one of the cash withdrawal. It is rarely a good idea to withdraw cash on a credit card.

    3. Nobody knows for sure.

    4. Do you need another card? You may get one now, you may be declined. Maybe leave it for 6 months then try a card with a lower rate of interest - Capital One seem good at accepting people with little or no credit history.
  • Does Vanquis still require a landline phone number to approve applications ? I ask this because am sure I read it somewhere that if I do not have a landline then vanquis will most likely decline the application !!?? Am tempted to apply for a vanquis card after a straight approval for cap One but do not want to take the chance if the this holds true !! Any advice will be welcome ..

    Hi All

Just a quick update about my card. i have now had it 2 years, currently at a limit of 2250. The increases have pretty much dried up (and I think their maximum is 3000 anyway). I have always paid in full, and always used around 50% of the available credit every month. The card is fine for me at the limit it is, and because I never use it to borrow I'm happy to stick with it in the long run. I recently applied for and got a current account, cheque book and £500 overdraft, so it seems that the route back to normal banking is complete.

Just_about you are right they do require a contact number as a stipulation for providing credit, it is in there important information on there website at the bottem. I dont believe that it has to be a landline, works number or mobile will suffice I believe as the stipulation is telephone contact.
