  • I honestly don't know lol
I got the statement like the 24th, it's due the 21 of july (28 days later?)... I've paid it anyways in full so I can use my cc again! I shouldn't get charged interest that way right?
I mean, what's the point of paying the bill before the statement comes thru? :S

Sounds like either the folks at Vanquis don't know how their own cards work and can't write a credit agreement that actually represents the features of the account,

Or it's going to be so hard to avoid being charged interest that this card really is worse to have than AIDS.

I've had a look through their credit agreement and it appears written by a teenager as part of a school project...

I think that's right yes. You shouldn't pay any interest in this case.

BUT, if you are new to Vanquis ie this is your first or second statement and you buy something on statement date, you only have 28 days to settle that transaction in full before interest is applied on that transaction.

This is why I'm paying off my balance in full before the statement is generated because I did make the mistake of using the card the day after I activated it and my statement date is exactly 28 days from when I first used it. If I wait until the statement is produced next, that's my 28 days and since there's no way to pay off the balance same day of statement production (given clearing times) you cannot possibly get an interest free period on any transaction 28 days or more old. But, it is an extreme circumstance nevertheless.

The alternative is don't buy anything in the first week of your new statement period and pay it off bang on next statement date (to allow for clearing times).

Issue should go away after third statement when you'll be offered the full 56 day interest free period which is standard in the credit card market.

That's the way I read it anyway!

Can anyone who has successfully sent a payment to their card confirm Vanquis' bank details? On the leaflet I got with the card the bank sort code and account number is totally different to the one on their website.

    Account Number: 50409510
Reference: Your 16 Digit Card Number

Thanks coolesticeking - on their website it states:

    (1) Our sort code: 60-95-94, (2) Our bank account number: 0000 0001 and (3) Your Vanquis 16 digit card account number

I'll use the one you use just to be safe!

i applied for one of these online, then instead of getting a decision there i instead received a pre approval/acceptance letter in post and another application form which i then posted off, around three weeks ago or just over ... hmmm sounds bad, although has anyone else waited an age to find out? theres no way of contacting them to ask and i want to avoid sending another application as you can't apply more than once ever 6 month etc ....

I waited almost 9 weeks for them to tell me I had been accepted! Also when I called them after about 6 weeks to find out the status of my application they told me I had been declined so I was rather suprised when they called to say I had been accepted!
