It's interest, apparently they have changed to a new system and that's how it's applied the interest?!
My OH called them to find out what it was, took them over 5 days to find out and had to be chased.0 -

Thank you for that update, did your OH get that refunded then?
Hope so as that means that £21 quid they owe me0 -
Hi,Will I pay interest?
I got my card a couple of weeks ago and did not use it in the first statement period but have made a purchase on it today (in my second statement period) of £329.99.
In there small print it says purchases are not interest free until the first two statements are paid in full but after reading through here some are saying they have never paid interest.
I intend to pay the balance in full at the next statement.0 -
If you pay off the full balance when you get your statement you won't pay any interest.0

Is there a maximum you can pay off your Vanquis account online with a debit card. I know it says max £500 on the payment screen but is that per payment or the whole month?
The reason I ask is I wanted to pay off the card but so far only one payment of £500 seems to have gone through.0 -
guys I got the statement online, and it says payment due 21 july.. now, my question is, if I pay in full like the 1st.. do I get charged interest till that day?0

Hi all i am spitting feathers today cant beleive vanquis & their crap customer service!!!
I had a call from them about an hour ago stating that the payment for June didnt go through!! This was a big suprise to me as the account was well in credit. I stated this to the cust serv guy & said i would contact my bank & see what went wrong. Spoke to the bank who confirmed that there was enough funds to cover the DD & actually Vanquis had asked for it. Their last request was May 23rd.
So back to vanquis, told them what the bank said & they said that their had been an error with some dd`s as new reference numbers were being used. (do remember something about this, letter came through with this info) She said that they would take the missed payment in July with July`s payment, but she assured me that this wouldnt be recorded on my credit file. But my account is now in collections! b`cos of missed June payment. They said they would refund any late charges if they were applied to my account.
Please could you advise me as to what my next step is? There customer service is crap & i dont trust what they say at all!:(0 -

Not sure to be honest? Is this your first statement? If so, then you'll only be getting interest free 28 days (for the first two statements according to their website) then from third statement onwards providing you've settled your first two bills in full you'll get up to 56 days interest free credit from the date of the individual transaction.
Take my example:
I got my card on 11 June. Used it first on 12 June. Statement date is scheduled for 10 July.
If I don't clear the balance prior to statement date, and pay in full by debit card on 10 July when statement is created, allowing three days for the payment to clear that'll take me beyond the 28 day period and so I'll end up paying interest on that transaction (and anything that has been outstanding for 28 days.
As long as you pay off the first two bills in full then from third statement onwards you get 56 days interest free - ie enough time to use it throughout the month until your statement arrives plus then three weeks to pay before interest is accrued.
Or at least that's how I've interpreted it anyway, if I'm wrong I would love for someone to tell me that.
I'm paying off the full balance prior to statement to ensure no interest.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0 -

See my earlier response to a similar question (and one I've been trying to work out myself).
The way I read it is that you get 28 days interest free from the date of transation, regardless of statement dates etc. So, if your purchase of £329.99 is made exactly one month before your next statement is due, then by the time the payment clears, assuming you pay it in full bang on the statement date, you will be liable for some interest as the 28 days since date of transaction will have arrived on your statement date.
But again, tell me if I've worked it out wrong.Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.0
