These are their new details, they changed them a few months ago now. Didn't bother informing anyone. I just suddenly discovered that I couldn't pay them . They have marvellous communication skills....

Err, they told quite a few people. Most of us got letters saying that things were changing.... gosh sometimes the vanquis bashing really annoys me...

I waited almost 9 weeks for them to tell me I had been accepted! Also when I called them after about 6 weeks to find out the status of my application they told me I had been declined so I was rather suprised when they called to say I had been accepted!

ha ha that's a long time, i noticed they have done a search on my credit file but still nothing to date from them ... i've given up really already to be honest i don't expect they'll be in touch, just have a feeling ... also how do you contact them to enquire on status of application etc?? i have had no luck with that at all

I just got accepted but I have a problem...

It is advertised as 39.9% APR variable, but my actual accepted interest rate is 59.8%!!!! What's that all about?

I plan on only using it for small purcahses, and as said, paying in full, so I know I won't be paying it BUT I didn't think an extra 20% is what they would put on to start with? Also will this come down with time?

Well, I'm a newbie with Vanquis too (had card three weeks) so don't profess to know everything about them, only what I've read on here and my own short experience.

They seem to increase interest rates if anything. Common discussions relate to them sending a Gold card and hiking up rates for sure. Although some do seem to have received lower rates as time has gone on.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what they say on the phone. Mine was accuate (£500 limit and 39% purchase rate) but others have said they either get a different limit when the card arrives or, as with your good self, a different rate.

Don't leave a balance on it - that's my advice!
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

The 39.9% is likely the representative rate, meaning less than 50% will actually get that rate if I recall correctly.

Your rate will depend on the risk they perceive you to be. If you look on the terms and conditions you'll see there are about 5 bands of rates which you might fall into.

    Hope that helps.

They didn't inform me, and I'm not 'bashing them'. I'm stating that my opinion is that they don't communicate. Take it you're a Vanquis employee from the over reaction there. No? Well don't make assumptions yourself either then.
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

It's quite simple; instead of grizzling, if you don't like their service vote with your feet and close the account. Unless, of course, no-one else will offer you a credit account...

P.S. I may not be a vanquis employee but I am one very grateful consumer who is just pleased to be able to get back on the credit ladder after being very stupid with money. It's more than I deserve, and frankly, crap as vanquis can sometimes be I see no reason to forget that they gave me a life line where others wouldn't. Yep, I'm a vanquis fan, and I'm proud of it! :P

Assumptions again. Yes, I have other credit, and I don't hate vanquis, am not bashing, just stating that I have found their communication to be poor. As I have already explained. Even you have to admit it's a poor effort not to let your customers know that you have changed your bank details! If they want to be paid, that is....

When do people find they get their limit increased or do you have to call and ask?

I have had my 3rd statement this morning. I currently have a £250 limit and i have spent it in full and paid it abck in full each month.

    Thanks
