Sent it about 9am last Wednesday 29th. As I say it was just a test amount, just as well really!

I just sent enough to clear my balance for Vanquis and Capital One, both on Thursday 30th June.

Capital One balance was cleared on Friday 1st July, Vanquis balance only just cleared today... obviously not a fan of Faster Payments, then!!

On my online banking with HSBC when you add "Pay a Person/Company", Vanquis are in the list so it auto-fills all the details and all you need to do is put in the Reference (your account/card number).
  • I'm hopefully due a 2nd increase soon, have conducted account well and always paid in full. Do they increase 4 months from when the increase letter was sent or is it 4 mths frm when u actually received the increase?

    Hi,

I was wondering what everyone experiences are with Vanquis in relation to having there credit limit increased.

What was your starting and when
Have you had any increases and if so when
How do you pay your bill.....in full or min payment.

My account was opened July 2010 with a £300 starting limit, was increased to £500 in december 2010...but since then no increases. I have used my card from very small amount up to other end of the scale but always remaining well within my limit, card has always been paid off in full as well since account opened every month.

Just wondered what other peoples experinces are on this.

    Thanks

Hi there. It seems looking at a few of the experiences on here that there is no standard on credit increases (although there really should be!). My personal experience is:

Card opened Jan 2010 at £250.
Increase in April 2010 to £500.
Increase in September 2010 to 1250.
Increase in March 2011 to £2500. Upgrade to gold card.
    No further increases since.

I always pay my bill in full and have never paid interest on any of my purchases. At 69.9 APR I have no intention of ever doing so either. I also only use my card for internet shopping. In the early days I used to try not to go over 50% of the available limit - now the limit is large enough that I don't get have to worry about it so much (the most I ever spend on it is about £800).

For me the card does everything I need it to, which is give me S75 protection and a few weeks breathing space between buying something and paying for it. I have to admit to being really uptight about how I run the account - after having made some big mistakes in the past I'm determined to learn from them.

I know they don't like people asking for credit increases, so unfortunately the only thing you can do is wait. Are you spending regularly on the card?

Hi and thanks for your reply/input...

I always spend regularly on the card each month, sometimes just a few hundred and sometimes right up to the limit available bar £10/£20 to keep within agreed credit comfortably. I always clear the balance each month in full to not incur any interest and ensure the amount reaches my account as cleared payment 2/3 days before the due date. Guess i will have to wait and be patient to see if they review my account for an increase.

Hmmm, day six and it still hasn't credited my account yet! I've checked many times the details, sort code, acc num, my 16 dig ref - can it take seven days?

Wow, been a busy old week - well the 'test tenner' did arrive in my Vanquis account eventually on Tuesday evening, so late on day six. I'm going to try using my other bank account that DOES do Faster Payment next time.

I'm due my first Vanquis statement on Sunday!
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway.

I don't think its your bank, it's more thank likely Vanquis.

I made two payments on the same day, one to Vanquis and the other to Capital One. It took a day for the funds to show on my Capital One account, but five for the funds to show on my Vanquis account.
