Thank you brian, I think I spoke too soon as I received 2 e-mails on the 14th from JD Williams one said about how I was now registered with them and the other was like a welcoming e-mail with my account number and credit limit on which was nice but today I had an e-mail from them saying they have had to decline opening an account for me as I did not score highly enough with their scoring sytem.

Have I done something wrong opening the account?

Am already confused about Vanquis contacting me, me missing their call and when I called back getting the message that"Vanquis have tried to contact you today we will be contacting you in the near future". I presume its to tell me what I already know about being declined

    Why am I bothering?

I don't belive Vanquis call to confirm you have been declined, it's more so that you have been accepted.

Did you try Studio? They accepted me after JD Williams declined me.

Vanquis won't be wasting their time phoning you if they are declining you.

Make sure you take their next call, or ring the 0800 number and speak to an adviser.

It was a representative from Vanquis who told me my application had been declined which is why I am confused.

No havent tried Studio yet cos I am worried about putting too many searches on my file if I am going to keep getting turned down (if that makes sense?)

Congratulations  Use it wisely and over time your rating will improve. Do you have any 'nasties' on file?

will be using it for £10 to £20 a month on fuel then pay off. don't want any credit again really, just trying to build a rating up again for a possible future mortgage.
what do you mean by nasties??

Defaults, late payments etc? Not being nosy in any way just here to ATTEMPT to offer advice as to building a better credit rating over time.
I have 2 defaults, drop off next year but by reading a lot on here, particulalrly the sub prime thread I have opened several accounts, purely for the green zero's. This time next year I will have 3 years of impeccable history and will then start to lower my exposure to 'available credit' in time for my reports being totally spotless :D

I am sorry for being annoying AGAIN but could someone answer me the following question please.

When I call Vanquis up tomorrow if they say they have defo turned me down, can I say I wish to appeal or am I better off just waiting the 6 months till trying again?

If I can appeal how long does it take and if their decision was still no do they mark me down as a troublemaker for appealing?

    Thanks

In all honesty I cannot see them wanting to contact you (as stated) if you have been declined, unless they need to clarify some details regarding your application. They do state that acceptance is subject to telephone contact so if they have tried many times you may been declined purely on that basis.
You can appeal any decline other than one based on 'eligibility' basic scoring criteria and NO you will not be labelled as a troublemaker as you are simply making them 'aware' of cetain things that may not have been taken into consideration.
Very surprised that Jd Williams declined you, may be worth ringing then too. Far better to appeal than to waste a search :D
