Congratulations  Use it wisely and over time your rating will improve. Do you have any 'nasties' on file?

Very strange when many posters on here report regular limit increases. Obviously something on your credit report that scared them off, my guess being the discharged bankruptcy. Giving somebody a chance with a low limit is a risk in itself if the account holder has suffered financial problems but you cannot get more problematic than bankruptcy. Just the way it is infortunately and not saying that I agree

In general, You may be right but I was made bankrupt in 2007 and I've had increases from vanquis every 4 months. I am now at 1250 8 months after opening the account.

Vanquis do appear to be strange bunch at times.
I have had my account since Sept 08 and gone from the initial £250 to my current limit of £3000, yet izools didn't get one increase in 12 months despite regular use and another poster only got one increase from £250 to £500 although he hardly used his if at all.
Must admit though that I do like Vanquis, interest rate may be horrible but they took a chance on me. :)

And then there's me- 16 months (almost 17) with Vanquis, still on £250. Again, a mixture of paying in full, paying a little or paying a lot. Never late, never over limit. Credit file 100000% better now than when I took the card.

Got a Very account last year, Capital One this year and recently replaced A&L with Barclays full account, so no major credit issues.

Yet Vanquis refuse to give me anything else.

Meanwhile, my OH has been over his limit TWICE, has a couple of new (since taking the card) late paid accounts (one with British Gas) and has gone from £250 to £750 to £1500 in 18 months.

    Go figure!
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

No sense to it, more so with late payments from British Gas on Experian as Vanquis take a monthly CAIS feed. Also going over limit twice should be frowned on in reality as the idea is to stick to terms and conditions, manage account responsibly.
Your credit record would (on paper) look better than his.
    Don't understand the logic :D

Is it best to leave it 6 months between applications if you have been declined?

Edit... just read you have Cap one and were declined by Aqua.
Do you have 'nasties' on file or simply lack of history.
    Any other accounts?

I have a satisfied CCJ which is due to come off next month (certainly this year if I am wrong) and I did have a few payday loans earlier in the year but now only have 1 which I am trying to get rid of

I just think I am destined to not get credit so I may as well get used to it now :)
