Actually. I did pay something by Paypal, this month as a donation rather than an Ebay purchase. Would this be regarded as a "cash withdrawal"?? Its the only transaction on the statement that has LU between the transaction location and the amount charged.

    This would be the problem.

Payments to Paypal appear to be regarded as Cash Withdrawals by many card providers. This means you are charged interest from the date of the transaction, hence you getting the Minimum Interest Charge.

Paypal are best avoided like the plague from everything I have read about them.

Could be worse, if you had an RBS / Natwest VISA debit card, PayPal transactions are seen as international, so you get the foreign usage fee (£2.50+ I think).

And yes, PayPal are very much one to avoid. I recently sold about £400 worth of stuff on eBay. I was charged OVER £50 in eBay fees PLUS the funds for two of the items weren't released to me for three weeks + another week to clear into my bank account because of PayPal's !!!!!! new rules.

After this ridiculous over-charging of fees and ridiculously long time to get at the funds for my items, I'm never using eBay again. Partly because I refuse to pay that much in eBay fees, so they've blocked my account. Big loss.

Well, at least its only £1; a cheapish lesson in comparision.

I will avoid paying Paypal on my Vanquis in future and stick to my solo for that. Thanks for the advice on it!

I would clarify that a bit, if buying on-line and under £100(especially Ebay) then Paypal is the best payment method there is, they offer far more protection to the buyer compared to other payment methods.

I didn't know that Vanquis would regard Paypal as a cash withdrawal instead of a purchase, thats interesting. I've never been charged a cash withdrawal fee or cash interest when I use my Capital One Classic Visa to make a Paypal purchase.

    Crikey that's weird!

Have you checked to make sure that all of the accounts / defaults / CCJs / whatever, that were integrated into your BR order, were marked as "Satisfied" on your credit report on the date of discharge?

I had to write to all my creditors providing proof of discharge AND raise notices of dispute with the CRAs to get this done, it was a slog and a half, but I made sure that had been done before applying for the Vanquis card, so when I did apply, I had no outstanding CCJs, Defaults, or Arrears.

Might be worth double checking your credit report ;)
