The truth about Ryanair

i didn't watch it as i've read most of the horror stories ...not for me i'm afraid0

Trains have safety devices such as the "dead-mans handle" and automatic breaks whilst doctors can walk off for a coffee if they're tired. The same can't be said for pilots on a 400-tonne aeroplane travelling at 500 miles per hour.tipsychick wrote:train drivers, doctors and many other responsible people also find themselves "fatigued" and frankly they often charge you a lot more for it!
Fatigue is a serious problem which, as jetboy says, is not limited to Ryanair. Indeed, I'm told it's considerably worse at a certain other UK low cost!0 -
I'd compare Ryanair to Sunny Delight.
There has been lots of media coverage of Sunny Delight, that has now filtered into public folklore. Surely there cannot be anyone in the UK who has either missed the press coverage, or not had it pointed out to them by somebody who has seen it. Anyone who drinks Sunny Delight must by now surely know it is not orange juice, but chemicals and vegatable fat. Anybody who complains they did not know cannot be taken seriously. And we do have the internet in 2006 ...
I'm grateful to Ryanair for dramatically driving the costs down of the state carriers.
I'm sorry for those poor girls.
So thanks Ryanair for creating consumer choice and low costs in the airline industry.
But forget free flights, you couldn't even pay me to fly with you !
I am aware of Ryanairs cheep flights. But I am also aware of what goes wrong, and what can happen, and what recourse I have.
I weight it all up before I part with my money.
I'd rather pay for a reasonable ticket, safe in the knowledge if things do go wrong, I have recourse.0 -
im sure there are plenty of people who have never flown with ryanair and vow they never will
thats a shame because they have an unblemished saftey record, best timekeeping in the buisness, fewer lost bags, lowest prices, newest planes etc
the only drawback is be prepared in the very unlikely event of a cancelled flight you might have to think for yourself and take action.
for those who are prepared to pay god knows how much for flights to be led by the hand and be comforted and pampered if it does go wrong, the full service airlines will be glad to take as much money as you want to throw at them
of course forget about all chaos in london last year with the strikes...not too much help for those stranded with the BA strikes
i have been let down in the past with easyjet...i dont hold a grudge with them, the rest of the flights with easyjet have been perfect
the low cost model is happening all over the world...thats the way forward-thank god0 -
I use Ryannair on a regular basis for 2 reasons;
1) Cost
2) Convenience. I'm not aware of anyone else who flies from Blackpool to Girona.
I've never had a problem with them. However I don't expect 5* service for what I pay, and I am prepared for the rush when boarding.
Perhaps I've been lucky.0 -
If anyone isnt completely put off from travelling with ryanair I posted a limited time free flight promo for the north west here0

have you flown air berlin ?
same model but a lot nicer0 -
I dont "like" Ryanair, but it serves its purpose. My BF lives in Sweden and our relationship only survives because of cheap, no frill Ryanair flights. For that, I owe Ryanair a great deal.
I have only had problems once and that was with too much luggage. Just opened suitcase, put on 2 more jumpers and changed my shoes. Not a big deal.
I have found the CC fine, not jumping out of their skin to help, but still doing there job. I flew with BA once, did self check in, and nobody checked my passport/id. So it is not just a problem with Ryanair.A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water. --Eleanor Roosevelt0 -
re hammy, i have heard a lot of good things about airberlin, i normally fly to spain/portugal and its the via majorca bit i don't like
the low costs i use are easy/ryan/bmibaby/thomsonfly...all about the same to me, i would use BA more often and would be quite prepared to pay about £5 each way more...to me its worth no more than that, and if the journey is operated by iberia then i would not pay any extra..they are no different to a low cost
im openminded and will travel with anyone if the routes/times all fit with me..i have no axe to grind with any airline...and certainly would not rule out one by media coverage..especially as with ryanair when these so called horror stories bear no resemblance to plenty of no hitch trips i have made0
