The truth about Ryanair

There's a documentary on Channel 4 about FR that exposes the truth behind their practices. Hopefully this should make people realise how awful Ryanair are and fly with a decent carrier instead.

It's on at 8pm on Monday 13th Feb

Taken from channel4.com:

A major undercover investigation into the way in which Ryanair, one of the largest and most successful low-cost airlines, operates. Two Dispatches reporters spent five months secretly filming the airline's training programme and onboard flights as members of the cabin crew. What they found may make you think twice about flying Ryanair again. The undercover footage reveals what takes place behind the scenes: security lapses, dirty aircrafts, pilots complaining about the hours they have to fly and exhausted cabin crew. The cynical staff attitudes towards passengers and their welfare are also unmasked in Ryanair: Caught Napping .

Remember, there's no such thing as a cheap flight.

Flown with them on many occassions and will continue to do so.

There are always people behind the scenes in most companies who will complain.

Stelios (easy jet, easy watch etc) says
"If you think safety's expensive then try an accident".

I would be reluctant to fly with RyanAir but Easyjet are superb in my opinion so don't them all with the same brush.

I agree,Have flown with Easyjet many times, most recent being last night!
On all occasions, planes have been clean, flight crews cheerful(A rare thing)
    and flights punctual.
On the other hand I've heard nothing but bad reports about Ryanair,so would'nt fly with them.
  • I have flown (with the family) with Ryanair & found them excellent. Possibly the luck of the draw to some extent. Dont all documentaries behind the scenes look like that ? I guess if they accidently film a 'good' company they have to bin the evidence as it doesnt make good viewing.

Bizzy - Thats not true - They are still doing repeats of the Easyjet ' fly on the wall ' series from a couple of years ago.

I have used Ryanair a lot but I am still concerned that the staff are often apparently poorly trained, unconcerned about passengers needs as human beings and often with very poor English.

Its a cattle moving operation which for only a few pounds a ticket more could offer an acceptable level of service.

I use Ryanair and will continue to do so if they are cheap enough but I would rather use any one else but them. They have no customer service values whatsoever, The view of the owner, O'leary, is because they are so cheap they do not have to deliver on anything else which is fair enough, but if you make a mistake with your booking or miss your connection then you are on your own. As long as you are aware of this before using them. I have been on the recieving end of Ryanair customer service (shudder) but it is so cheap to fly with them what should I expect? Their planes are shabby but I don't think they would be putting lives at risk?
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

We've used Ryanair on a number of occasions, never paid much for the tickets and have found them perfectly adequate for what we paid. They also fly from where we want to fly from to where we want to fly to............. and back again. In fact, Ryanair are (fingers crossed) flying us to and from our honeymoon later this year.

I have used them once and I got exactly what I paid for. A late, filthy plane with grumpy staff.
  • i went to Spain with Ryanair on Friday and came back on Sunday.
Plane wasn't really dirty, with the turnaround they do you can't expect too much from them.
Grumpy staff that don't speak much English doesn't bother me too much, i'm not going on the plane to talk to them, as long as they can understand the words 'lager' and 'HOW MUCH !!!! you should be wearing a striped jumper and a mask' then i don't care.
