The truth about Ryanair

  • I fly with Ryan-Air to Ireland about six times a year to see family & friends.
I could not afford to this with any other Airline!
I have done it so many times now that I see it like just getting on a bus (get on - get your seat - are we there yet?). Cheap & not so cheerful - but I'm not complaining!

Like anything else if you see what's going on behind the scenes you would never leave your house!

I have flown with Ryanair a few times and they were fine. I used to work as a stewardess for DAN AIR and on one stop over the Captain was rolling around the floor of the hotel lobby, !!!!!! out of his head at 3 am for a 10 O'clock flight the next day!! Thats what you need to be worrying about!

We flew to Girona from Stansted last August with Ryanair and I was really impressed! The fares, of course, were really cheap - half the price of Easyjet. Everything was handled really efficiently - the ground staff were great and so were the air crew. Probably the best thing for us though was the fact that we were allowed to board first because we had children. So we had the pick of the seats and all five of us sat together. Not much consolation for childless flyers - especially on busy flights.

Take your own food on board - it's really not worth buying the stuff that they sell. Drinks were OK though.

I'd definitely use them again but It'll be interesting to see the prog. on Monday.

  • the serving food and drink is pretty much all they're there for in the accident to beverage service ration.
Well sadly that shows just how little you understand about the people in which you trust your life. Out of interest, do you have Car Insurance? Home Contents perhaps? How often are you burgled or how many times have you been rescued from your burning building? I hope it never does happen to you, but I'll bet you'll be glad of the investment when you need it most!

the lingustic capability i have noticed on ryanair flights is very impressive
I have never said I wouldn't fly Ryanair. I have never claimed they were unsafe. What I have said is that I'm choosy who I fly with and that sometimes the cheapest just isn't worth the risk. I've watched European airlines do things that would put you off flying forever!

there would be more problems if the cabin crew were all british...and half the passengers could not understand them in an emergency
I know. Perhaps we could have little video screens with subtitles and signing for those who don't understand the dominant language. Ah, but these 'nicities' cost money, irrespective of whether they've been proven to improve safety following years of crash investigations

the real saftey issues are air traffic control problems...now that is scary!
Care to elaborate on how unsafe ATC is? And there was me thinking modern aeroplanes had highly sophisticated equipment on board to ensure they miss other aeroplanes (and mountains) in case of ATC problems! Ah, but not all airlines feel the need to invest in modern aeroplanes do they, or perhaps don't have the standards of training needed to teach pilots how to fly them?

With reference to my previous posts, I am amazed by these letters - I can't find the words "f**k off" in any of them. Can anyone help? :D

what?? that's got absolutely nothing at all to do with what i said. Go back and read it, twice, 3 times if you need to.
I said that on the accident to drinks serving ratio they are primarily there to serve drinks. They're trained incase of an accident but 100% of the average cabin crews time is serving passengers and not rescuing them from the plane as it rarely happens.

As I said before I used to work for an airline. Safety training was very high and we would be tested on random aspects before each flight. If we were unable to answer the questions we would be grounded! There is a lot more to the role of Cabin Crew than serving refreshments.

Well as airline accidents are pretty rare that is obvious but you always have to be prepared for an emergency and know where all the emergency equipment is located, how to use it, what do in the event of a decompression, how to administer first aid etc, etc.You have to know how to do all this each and everytime you fly!Firemen don't go into fires every single day but they have to be prepared and know what to do ALWAYS!
