re alli007, i agree totally with you, i could also list umpteen trouble free flights with ryanair,

perhap the "never ryanair" brigade should try them out first

it really was a poor effort from dispatches...it all amounted to next to nothing, im sure the idea of the programme was to scare the public to death with all sorts of saftey issues....and all they got was a bit of gossip between pilots and cabin crew

and to invent pictures in the press of cabin crew asleep on ryanair planes...when they were not ryanair planes sums up the pathetic attempt by dispatches

5 months of undercover investigation...those reporters were taking the pee dispatches

    youve been had

Looked to me that there were several shots of cabin crew sleeping while in flight. There was comment afterwards from safety ' experts '

I don't think you can say the pictures were ' invented '

its on the ryanair website news about dispatches, they had some advertising pictures prior to the programme in the press which showed equipment that are not ryanair planes, ryanair have sent dispatches letters wanting answers

and if they pull stunts like that, who knows if the sleeping cabin crew on the programme were not the reporters themselves

I was away when the programme was first shown but have just seen the re-run on More4. What an abysmal programme. I wouldn't pay those researchers in washers. If either Mary Nash or Charlie Smith are reading this, I don't think you've done your future careers any good at all.

There are obviously many more worse issues within Ryanair as a result of their high-pressure processes.

But, the only conclusion to be drawn from that hour is that "...if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys"! The real culprits shown in the programme would appear to be the incompetent staff who are not following the company's procedures!

Ryanair has many faces as a company . To some , they see an incompetent, money grabbing company with no respect for their customers . To others, they see an airline that has opened up the world (well Europe) as destinations for short breaks , holidays etc. I have travelled with Ryanair on numerous occassions and yes we have had the odd blip , but nothing which has made us fear for our lives. The call centre leaves a lot to be desired as does their ability to be non contactable via email but at the end of the day , you pay £20 for a return flight to XYZ , can you really expect Harrods quality ???? Long live budget airlines , if it is safety issues that put you off , then dont fly with them , but dont criticise without trying them out first .

Has any one travelled with Ryan Air recently?

I went with them last August no problems. My mum went with them in January and again no problems.

Anyone know if there is any truth in them charging you for luggage?

    The truth about Ryanair

They are changing me £25 return to go to Reus next month.
It would cost more to get the train to London (only 70 miles).
    That`s the truth!

You bet they do - Flybe are trying it on too - charging for luggage.

Why is everyone trying to out Ryanair each other - it may be a successful business model at the moment but its not sustainable in the long run as people want more than just the basics all the time.

I remember flying with GO airlines to Ibiza some time ago - before the ascendency ( sic ) of Ryanair . Basic, no frills pay for coffee and stuff. They disappeared .

There will always be a market for a very basic service but as pressure is put on airlines to be carbon friendly(ish) and more accountable I think Ryanair are going to lose out to rivals who offer just a little more rather than Ryanair offering less.

I fly in a couple of days with BA. The same route with no frills was only a little cheaper but I paid the extra knowing that I woulds at least have some recourse if things went wrong. Its a kind of insurance.

Go Fly was taken over by easyJet and merged into easyJet, they fly to Ibiza from STN, LGW and EMA summer only. There is a good book on Go, called 'Go An airline adventure' http://www.find-book.co.uk/books/0316726621.htm also available in libraries.

No prizes for guessing what easyJet would re-brand as if they had to.
