xbox 360 or PS3?

Idio. Time will tell but its very similar to the original XBOX v the PS2. The PS2 games just got better and better over time.
Pulling up what some 360 fanboy says really doesnt interest me in the slightest. I agree that generally speaking the 360 has the better graphics side by side with a PS3. But in 2 years from now that could easily change........:idea:0 -
Why would you want to still use the old xbox anyway?
I'll tell you in 1 word why the old xbox is far superior to the new xbox 360 (or PS3 for that matter): XBMC ..
OK, if you prefer games the new consoles are no contest, but if you are like me, who only play games every now and then, but like to watch movies, stream video/radio over the internet, view photos, etc, etc, there is no better machine than the old xbox, which can be had for as little as £15.... You can even run up to1080i HD with XBMC.
... Something to keep in mind...0 -

The PS3 & 360 can both do those things, admittedly the 360 needs software running on a PC to stream content from the internet but it's possible, and the other things are handled with no problems at all0 -
As for the price ~ it costs far more simply due to the fact it has a built in bluray player and wireless capabilities
ultimately its a lump of plastic with bits of metal in it like similar electronic items. you will say that is daft and ok it probably is. however when i remember buying a dvd player for £200 and then see how much they cost now i am tempted to think it is not so daft. i think companies charge what they think they can get away with or sometimes what they would like to get away with. i bet the ps3 will be under £200 well before the ps4 comes along.0 -

There's a reason for that though. When new technology comes out it is expensive to manufacture and produce, over time, it becomes cheaper and hence why you see price cuts. Don't forget, companies like Microsoft and Sony spend tens of millions of pounds in development to bring us next gen consoles, they have to make a profit at some point.0 -

CD players were over 3k when they first came out.
Its technology moving at a rapid rate. Sony actually make losses on their consoles (Yes, even when they first came out), as do Microsoft. They only make money on game sales.:idea:0 -

The PS3 now has a 65nm chip (originally 90nm) which has brought production cost down & there's a new 45nm chip due in the summer which should further reduce costs (+ reduce heat & energy used). Don't be surprised to see a £199 PS3 by Xmas 09...........What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
if game console manufacturers dont have a rip off strategy when it comes to pricing of their consoles, how come after exchange rates and all that has been taken into account, why do they charge less for one in other countries like the usa than they do here in the uk?0

That doesn't just apply to console manufacturers, it's across the board. It's a case of rip-off Britain i'm afraid..........:mad:What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!0 -
There we have it then, a nice balanced argument I think!
Both consoles have different aspects that will appeal to peoples different choices/tastes.
Much enjoyment to be had from both. Peace and love man!:beer:0
