xbox 360 or PS3?

PS3 everytime....ps3 works straight out of the box (wireless gaming, large harddrive).....only need to buy a game plus the online gaming is just as good as abox live (I don't know where people get this idea that PS3 online gaming is rubbish)
XBOX360 you need to buy add on after add on to keep up with everyone else......and 30 quid a year to play online will make your xbox more expensive over the long run
I've had both and would never go back to the xbox360....its just to inferior when it comes to overall quality and things it can do
and if you have a HD TV you will be blown away with Blu ray as Piggeh says
My PS3 is mainly a blu ray player first and games console second....so you have to decide what you really want to use it forIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
I don't know what the price difference is now for an Xbox 360 to PS3, but don't be so quick to pay the difference because it has a built in blu-ray.
Anyone who reads teachnical articles will see that blu-ray as a format isn't exactly taking off. The general opinion was that once the format war between blu-ray & hd-dvd was decided, sales would take off, but that hasn't been the case - the fact that some blu-ray players are less than £120 is evident of that.
To suggest that there is a huge difference in gaming quality between consoles is plain & simply innacurate.0 -
PS3 all the way for me. Better looking, better build quality, less prone to faults, more powerful console.
Problem with this argument is there isn't really a sure fire winner. In my eyes I would say PS3 but in someone elses eyes they would say xbox.
The PS3 DOES outperform the xbox. No question about it. Whether you'll notice the difference though depends on the player.
PS3 also uses blu-ray instead of the (already) old fashioned HD reader the xbox comes with.
Personally i'd say try both and then see what your happiest with.
Lets not forget 'Little Big Planet' on the PS3 though!!! Without a PS3 you won't be able to play the best game in the world!!This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
360 all the way!! I have one downstairs for the kids and one in my bedroom with a wireless adaptor.
I can stream all my music, videos etc from my PC. DVD quality is still great if you have a decent telly too.
Online gaming is absolutely superb and well worth the £40 a year.
I would go for this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/99395
The RRP for the Premium is £169.99, not the £199.99 that Ebuyer is quoting.
Their reduced price of £160 is OK, but Amazon actually have it £160 too, as do a few others.
Have a look around at bundle offers. Some on-line offers actually differ from the shop offers. Gamestation is a case in point for this.Dave. :wave:0 -
Got both and prefer the 360. I think the difference in games is marginal, 360 has a much better media extender experience, online play I've found to be more engaging on the 360. Only thing we really use the PS3 for is blu-ray and using the t'interweb on the tele in living room.0

Honestly the two consoles are so close together now in terms of quality that you're going to be happy irrespective of which one you go for. Anyone who says that the gaming library is significantly better on one or the other is just plain wrong. They are very close, and there is a lot of crossover with games that are multiformat.
With regards to online play they are once again not all that far apart. Xbox Live has more features, and is probably worth the extra money, but the Playstation Network is a fine and efficient service that won't disappoint. Once again those claiming that there is a huge gap between these services is wrong.
As an owner of both consoles, I have been playing my PS3 significantly more in the past eight to nine or months or so, and before that my 360 was used more. But that has ultimately just come down to the games that I've bought.
My advice would be to have a look at the exclusive features of each console, and make your choice based on that. Exclusive games will be a big draw, and both have a decent array of exclusive titles. If one list of exclusive games takes your fancy a lot more than the other, then there is your choice. Alternatively the Blu Ray player in the PS3 may be a draw for you, in which case so be it.
Ultimately it depends on your personal circumstances. So what types of game do you like? Have you owned either an Xbox or PS2/PS1 in the past and have some favourite series? Is the Blu Ray player something that you'd get use out of? Answering questions like these will hopefully make you make the right choice, but either way you won't be disappointed with your purchase."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? Lol.......................... Blu-ray sales are outperforming DVD........;)

I have a PS3 and my partner an Xbox 360.
In terms of graphics and the console etc i prefer the PS3. But to say their is little difference between Playstation network and Xbox live is completely wrong.
Xbox live:
Download full movies both HD and normal - there are literally hundreds to select from - Not a single one on Playstation network.
Download hundreds of games classics and new ones - a handfull on Playstion.
To be honest there is absolutely no comparison between the two Live wins hands down in almost every aspect.
However, last night when i was playing World at War on PS3 there were over 100k also online.0 -
xbox live may cost £30 or more a year but you the multiplayer experience is imo pretty good, only thing is that if you parent and you have kids and maybe a partnet/wife who also want to play on xbox LIVE then you would need to buy each 1 of those who want to play on xbox live theyre own live subscription which can make it expensive but there are workarounds0

On the two specific points......Xbox live:
Download full movies both HD and normal - there are literally hundreds to select from - Not a single one on Playstation network.Download hundreds of games classics and new ones - a handfull on Playstion. To be honest there is absolutely no comparison between the two Live wins hands down in almost every aspect.
Though as a final push back, you forgot to mention Home, for which Live has no equivalent. Now admittedly I'm by no means Home's greatest fan, but it stands as a feature not available on Live, and one which no doubt many find enjoyable. Just to round off the overall point that ultimately your assessment of the online services was a tad rose tinted in favour of Live. Once there was a huge gap between them. That gap has since narrowed."MIND IF I USE YOUR PHONE? IF WORD GETS OUT THATI'M MISSING FIVE HUNDRED GIRLS WILL KILL THEMSELVES."0
