We returned from Murcia last Saturday and at the boarding gate a staff member was making people put their bags into the measuring crate and if they didn't fit they had to remove and wear some extra items!! So not only was it a strict one piece of luggage it did have to be the right size although they were not weighed.

I am due to fly with ryanair for the first time in a few weeks so i was wondering if any of you guys that have used them in the past could help me out. I am going with a friend, i am taking no luggage so i have took the option to check in online, however my friend is taking a case and is booking in at the airport, will we get to sit together on the plane? I have used easyjet before and with them you just find your own seats so was wondering if ryanair do this? we are going to tenerife so don't really want to be sitting apart for a few hours,:o Any info would be great cheers

Seats are not allocated on Ryanair flights.

Ryanair is a free seating arrangement, but 1st on bags 2 seats!

Although sitting apart should be fine as long as you take a book as there isn't inflight entertainment.

Hi Everyone,

I have booked a flight with ryanair some time ago, and I am flying out on Monday. First I've made the booking with no luggage, but yesterday I've added luggage and priority boarding. When I've printed the booking it appears the following:
1pax 0 checked bagagge
1 pax 1 checked baggage
web check-in.

So my question is, can I do the online check-in and then drop my bags somewhere at the airport? I am flying from Birmingham and I don't remember seeing anything like this there.

Also, when I've tried to make the online check-in is says to confirm that "I am carrying only one piece of cabin baggage with the correct weight and dimensions and I am aware of the cabin hand baggage security restrictions applying to all flights.". This is very confusing!

Does anyone know how this works?

You can't do online check-in with hold bags.

Not quite right Terryw - unless you mean that you can't do online check-in with hold bags for free! :-)

You can check-in online for free if you have no hold luggage, but it's currently £15 per person, per one-way flight to check in online with 1 bag going into the hold (or £20 per person per one way flight if you select to check in at the airport).... then I believe you deposit your hold luggage at a drop desk at the airport upon arrival there.

It actually says it's £5/€5 per person per one way flight to check in hold luggage online on these links, but I have booked a flight with online check-in and a piece of hold luggage, and it cost me £15, not £5. Perhaps they've put the price up, or perhaps the £5 surcharge mentioned is paid at some other point in the process? I could do with some clarification MYSELF on that bit, but they wouldn't allow you the option of paying to check in online, with a piece of hold luggage, if it wasn't permitted :-)

Not even Ryanair can do that, surely?!

It is £5 per one way flight to check-in on-line, with or without a hold bag, it is also £10 for the 1st bag, so the £15 you have been charged is correct.


"Passengers travelling with checked baggage will be charged an online check-in fee of £5/€5 per person/per one way flight for all bookings made from the 19th March 2009 onwards.
From that date passenger’s booking online who use airport check-in will be charged an airport check-in fee of £10/€10 (or local currency equivalent) per person/per one way flight. If booked at the airport or via a Ryanair call centre a fee of £20/€20 per person/per one way flight applies."

I've booked and paid for my flights with Ryanair. I've opted to pay for two suitcases and for online check in.

Am I going mad but when I print out the boarding pass it says one piece of cabin luggage. What do I do with my suitcases???

Please tell me I'm missing something obvious as I'm starting to get an unpleasant feeling........................
