I've just sent a first letter off this week to Lloyds which they have acknowledged and will be replying to shortly.

Will keep an eye on this thread to see how you're all getting on. I'm more than happy to play the messing around game with Looyds over this - we'll get there in the end.

    Good luck mrcow.;)

    Hiya

Have you tried requesting for a Subject Access Request (SAR) for any of your paperwork?

Its optional but maybe useful if you have nothing, and anything in relation to PPI should also be enclosed.

So any documents within the last 6 years they should sent to you, sometimes they send info from earlier years.
They have 40 calendar days to comply, and you enclose £10 cheque or postal order within this SAR letter request.
    Template letter of SAR here:

Any account number you have in relation to the ppi will be fine.;)

    Thanks,

I have already been and sent the letter with just the mortgage number on it, should i send the SAR when they reject the 1st letter? or should i just go through the 2nd letter phase and then to the financial ombudsman?.

As the SAR is optional, is can just be useful if you require more details/info on your account, and something within the SAR may help your case, but you can request for this anytime you want.;)

Really sorry - I should have updated this ages ago! Lloyds paid up in full over this.

They took about 4 months in total, but refunded my friend all of the money paid, plus interest lost. It actually wiped out the remainder of the loan - which was great as she'd just gone onto a DMP and was struggling.

Anyone who is considering this, please just do it. Lloyds were very underhanded when they insisted that my freind took out PPI - they exploit those who are desperate or who don't understand these things and as far as I'm concerned, as a respected bank, have completely abused their position.
