    hi

I just thought I would let you know that I have been trying since January 2008 to reclaim PPI from Lloyds TSB. Their first response wasn't very helpful so I sent my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. I have had a letter from them today to say that Lloyds have agreed to pay me. I couldn't beleive it after all this time!

keep trying coz it will be worth it in the end.

    Hooray !!!!!!

    Hi Winnie

Congratulations on you win. Perseverance has obviously worked here.

  • Hi Di,

I know you have had dealings with Lloyds re ppi. Can I ask how much time should you allow between the first rejection letter from them and a further complaint letter. My first letter to them was answered within 24 hours, generic fob off, but I haven't as much as had an acknowledgement for the second letter that I wrote, going on for 3 weeks now.

    Hi Charlie,

I will try to remember what I can, the first letter had taken about 6 weeks with the standard fob off response, then 2nd one was approx a month, may have been a little longer, however I did then decide to ring them and told them if I do not hear within 7 days I would continue to the FOS anyway, then to what I can recall it was that of the 7 days exactly I received a response.
Give them a ring and see what they have to say, hopefully its a good outcome, good luck.;)

    Hi Di,

thanks for the advice. They were super speedy in sending out a rejection letter (within 24 hrs!) when I first wrote to them. I sent the 2nd letter by recorded delivery and can see from the royal mail website tracking that it was definitely received, so probably just dragging their heels.

I will give them a little longer, then chase them up, or as you say tell them that its getting referred to the FOS.

    thanks again,

    Hi Di,

I decided that I had given them (LloydsTSB) long enough to respond or at the very least acknowledge my second letter (on the 12th March), so gave them a call yesterday to move them along. I was told that they had replied to my letter dated 14th February on the 18th February and clearly I hadn't received anything, so they would "check" to see if ok to reissue! I told them that they would need to as I wasn't being left in limbo!!!!

Received copy of this missing letter from them today (which only shows yesterday's date???) and its basically another generic dismissal letter. I had raised many points in my second letter with them and this response was literally just to reiterate that they weren't for changing their minds - actually in a rather aggressive manner. Then they sign off their letter by referring to a leaflet from the ombudsman (which they hadn't enclosed!, helpful eh?) so I have managed to get an address from the internet.

I will write to the FO at the weekend and keep you posted.

    Hiya hun

Sorry to hear this, this is like action replay with mine with them, but finally successful with the FOS with these, so you still have hope yet hun.

Just to also remind you hun, you can either ring the FOS or download a complaints form from their website, remember to enclose a copy of the final letter, I would also take a photocopy or 2 as well, to keep your yourself and to send to Lloyds to make them aware this is now being dealt with by the FOS.

Hopefully they may change their minds, if they do and its in your favour, keep the FOS updated, good luck hunni and keep us posted as well.:A ;)

I have also today received my letter telling me I am unable to claim as I had signed the forms.

My reasons for claiming against Lloyds are
    * full time employer who gives me a full benefits package including 7 months sick pay so I never wanted it in the first place but they do not seem to agree that it is possible their branch staff are pushy.

    * 3 out of the 4 loans I have taken out with them had PPI - The one I did not take PPI was the only one which I took out online with no hassle from their staff in branch.

They have included the FOS leaflet with their rejection telling me to contact them.

After reading my reasons above does anybody think I have a good case ?

Just having single premium PPI included in a loan account is sufficient to make a successful claim. It really is irrelevant whether you were mis-sold or not.
The idea of mis-selling is just one issue but there are other issues that are much more powerful.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

I've just sent a first letter off this week to Lloyds which they have acknowledged and will be replying to shortly.

Will keep an eye on this thread to see how you're all getting on. I'm more than happy to play the messing around game with Looyds over this - we'll get there in the end.
