Mummysaver, on closer inspection my pantry is a huge mess, will have to sort it out!!! My mum had a pantry, thats why i bought my house, that and because it stil has the old fireplace in!!! ok, I am off to read the papers xxx
I'm starting to go right off youActually that should've been this
cos it's green!
Well off I trundled to Mr T's yesterday, clutching my shopping list, and I nearly keeled over by the tinned toms, they were 26p instead of 19p - needless to say I came back without them! Will check out Asda! Icing sugar was more expensive than Lidl's, so will have to stock up in Lidl's when I pop out later. But the chicken stock cubes were down to 9p! Prices all seem to be going up and down at an alarming rate, though I did notice rice seems to be coming down everywhere and pasta has fallen a bit in Asda. Yes I do remember prices, sad I know
Long and the short is that my stockpiles didn't grow a whole lot, I just kept wandering and muttering about the toms!
Whilst I was in Lidl I grabbed the remote plug thing I wanted, this year it's going to be simple turning on the Christmas tree lights and more importantly turning them off at night, ds has plugged one into the telly sockets, so that's easier at night too. There were lots of the £6.99 energy monitors in there as well.
Looked at the bargain leaflet for next week and low energy lightbulbs are going to be 39p each for 5 for 50p - great bargain, though not much help in a powercut! Did spot some wind up torches though!
Right, off to count tins of toms already in stock and find somewhere cheap to buy more!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

I'm really pleased my bro's bank is being propped up (he's at RBS) I do worry about him but he's been there since school and quite high up so hopefully he'll be safe!
Got MrT's arriving soon we ran out of strawberries a cardinal sin in this house    had a few still in the garden but nowhere near enough for DS3...
Do you know, that would probably be the thing that would panic me most if food were in short supply 'cos I'd be battered if he didn't get them :rotfl:
I'm glad to see the sun is out here too so might be able to linedry some washing today too0 -

I've been with the RBS since I was 18, they're a brilliant bank. Local call centres--main one is in Edinburgh, and I can even call my branch manager and talk to him anytime.0

Lucky you mardatha - last time I spoke to our local branch manager was in around in 1967 when our car engine blew up on holiday and I had to call them bank on a reverse charge call to ask for an overdraft for pay for repairs. And he gave it to me too for my cheek. Come to think of it, I was probably one of the instigators of the current credit crunch!0

Dd bought me 'Nella Last's Peace' for a birthday pressie. We think we have hard times!!!!!!
She says what she is cooking very often, interesting to read. She uses a combination of tins, bottled and packaged food. Clearly stores and makes a lot of jams, preserves etc.
I'm going to read it again and make a few notes.
Must go - Mr. T's van has arrived!!0 -
Hi
have been popping in from time to time and notice with interest how you are storing dry goods. Would that I had the space...
I know that sometimes space is a problem, but have you considered more unusual places like under beds, in boxes over the top of kitchen units etc...? Hope it helps.
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
