Oh dorry, I am jealous too, I would love a pantry! My nan had a fab huge old pantry, I can remember sneaking in there to help myself to dripping from the big bowl!

Well I dreamt about stockpiling last night, and repelling boarders with pea shooters! Not sure what that says about my state of mind! Anyway I have to make a meal plan today and therefore a shopping list, so will be adding on the extra flour and tinned goods I need - sometimes I wonder what we do with all the beans and toms!

Will pick up the papers as well and see what gloom they forecast, oh how I would love to read some nice happy news!
Mummysaver, on closer inspection my pantry is a huge mess, will have to sort it out!!! My mum had a pantry, thats why i bought my house, that and because it stil has the old fireplace in!!! ok, I am off to read the papers xxx

I've just posted on the Grocery Challenge at my shock while visiting the butcher....it was more expensive to buy oxtail than diced steak

I've also noticed that rabbit is once again making an appearance in some supermarkets, but again didn't look that much of a bargain. I guess I should be thankful that I am losing my taste for any meat in preferance for lovely veggies :p so it makes more for the offspring & Pup :D

With regards to dried dog food, if it's a brand they haven't had before, it may help to moisten the kibble with a little boiled water till they are used to the taste. I read that on the Pets thread when we first moved Pup onto dried, but I cook for him myself now so just keep a little bag of dried for 'emergencies' & training. HTH.

My store cupboards are like many others in that things leap out at you once the door is open  but I do have a valid excuse in that I keep a selection of veg for Iggie. Have you noticed how difficult it is to get something that isn't preserved in brine or with added sugar & such  That's why I tend to buy so much on my tri-annual visits to MrA--by far the best selection of tinned products--plus me muvva being diabetic we have to be aware of what's inside the tin for her too :o

Even on the House Prices board there is advice to have a months supply of food and money for when the big bang comes - predicted in the next couple of weeks.

Few shops keep much stock and if deliveries break down it will be best to have those supplies!

Will also keep the car full of petrol. Banks may have days when no money can be taken out. Better safe than - well your guess is as good as mine!

MM can you point me to this thread please ? I was just saying to the OH that maybe we would have a day or two when the banks were closed, and we should get some cash.

Just gone and had a looksee at that thread....ooh boy! Oh well.....errr....maybe I shouldnt have openly wondered in agreement with a poster on there whether this is all a bit more "organised" than it looks.

Oh well.....if I dont "reappear" here at some point...there's been a so-called "car accident"...

Hi mardatha, it is the post by !!!!!!. What a scary time we are experiencing. There is a new thread on there that some Hedge Funder is shorting Santander!

The markets are going to be interesting today. There were rumours - Times on line, I think - that trading on the Stock Exchange might be suspended for a time.

ty :) My benefit was messed up and for a month we have been £35 a week short...so it's not a good time for us to re-stock. Sods law. I wish they'd get it sorted... Also we're with the RBS , thank goodness they seem fixed, but I wonder if they will have a wee "holiday" until things get re-organized?

its about time we had a glimmer of brightness.

I have been looking at ftse trading today, it is very calm and I believe that the panic has stopped plus the weather is warm in some parts of the uk so that will save energy as a whole and will conserve electricity for the winter for the uk as a whole

I still think we will get bad times but the horrible feeling of gloom and doom is dissipating so perhaps we won`t be getting so depressed by the `out of control` situation we got flung into. We on this thread, can all cope with down stages as long as they happen one at a time

so for now, my peashooters are going back in the cupboard and I am going to put my sunhat on instead of my tinhat. Sending hugs to all and getting back to normaility, albeit coping with lack of savings due to icesave
