  • Just a thought. I do have a direct number for a guy called Greg. I don't know what his job at Phones2UDirect is but I did talk to him several times when my order for the phone was messed up (I should have taken the hint). So anyone with cash back problems with Phones2UDirect, call Greg on 01732 765407.
  • I sent a follow-up email asking about my cash back status and dropped in a mention of small claims court.

This time I got a reply saying that I "will definitely get paid" and they're just having a few problems.

Maybe they need time to pack up all the stuff in the office and get out of there? :D

Yes - you read it right. I finally got my cashback from Mobile Rainbow - credited into my bank account today.
I took to mailing them on a daily basis with a a countdown to number of days before I take legal action. Still got no replies from them, and kept trying the number and the mobile number that was previously posted on this forum. Today by some stroke of genius the mobile was answered by someone called Shibu - who answered all my questions, was extremely apologetic, took my details, listened to my complaints about their unprofessionalism, etc.
He stuck to the line of the technical issues, said that they had now all been resolved, and that they were in the process of getting in touch with about 300 people per day to get through their backlogs of calls to return.
I explained to him that they needed to make a statement soon - because they were doing irreperable damage to their reputation - and he agreed and said that they were in the process of drafting a response to the forums as well - so we should expect to see that reply on here fairly soon.
He promised to get back to me - and by the end of the day had fulfilled the promise, called and left a voicemail to say that the cashback had been credited to my account. I just checked and there it was!!!!.
Also comfirms my earlier theory that they always pay cashback on a Friday - as that is what had been suggested to me earlier when they had previously said that they would pay it. So if you haven't checked your accounts today - then I would do so soon.
Shibu also reassured me that they are indeed genuine, and have been a victim of technical issues and that was all. At this point I think my faith is restored - but let's see how they deal with my next cashback claim which is now just a few weeks away.
    :D:D:D

Sent claim 16th July by special delivery - was received 17th July. I phoned them 3 weeks later and they confirmed all was in order and I would be paid that friday - didn't come. The next friday it didn't come either so I phoned back. After that all the technical issues meant I couldn't get through.

Incidentally - the 0870 cashback number on their website has been deactivated - they told me that long before their technical issues. Try the mobile number on the above thread.
  • well im not holding my breath ive sent 3 emails and recieved no emails back from them, unable to ever get thru on any of there phone numbers, im sure there out just to rip everyone off and pay no cashback, so ive emailed them and given them 14 days to pay or will be clicking the online court action from this forum, im not taking no prisoners if they have 14 days afte that to pay up or the bailiffs will follow.

OK - read back a few pages and youll see that I made the statement that I thought Mobile Rainbow had shut up shop, run off with our money and had no intention of paying us our cashback.

Im happy to say - I WAS WRONG !!!

I rang the mobile number on Saturday afternoon and spoke to a polite man who assured me that my cashback had been paid on Thursday. This was in response to an email which I had sent them last week threatening Claims Court action.

I have just checked my bank account and a payment from MSOLS of £142.50 has hit my account this morning.

So it seems Mobile Rainbow are still paying out the cashback - but it may take a while (mine took about 7 weeks in total).

I asked about my 9 month and 12 month cashback and he said that at the rate they are processing the backlog it should be cleared by the end of the month and that my next cashback claim should run a lot more smoothly.

He once again apologised for the problems - it sounds like their copmputer systems are down too as it sounded like he was looking through a long paper printout to find my details so perhaps they are using paper records at the moment which will be slowing them down.....
  • Placed an order for a p990i with these guys a few weeks back. When I made initial contact i asked them if they had the phone in stock as no where else had them yet - they confidentally said Yes, they had physical stock and could gaurantee 48 hour delivery.

Well here i am today, 6 phone calls and 2 emails later, with no phone :(.

Needless to say I've cancelled my order (well at least i think i have, ie ive emailed to cancel but ive never heard anything back).

Really frustrating when you ring as you can only hear every third word becuase of the bad line.

And today i cant see the offer on the website.

Disgusted by the service, even prior to their latest 'technical fault' which i doubt has been going on for 3 weeks.

Just thought i'd share the experience with you guys.

  • Some of you will know that Mobile Rainbow's phones have been out of action for nearly 2 weeks, with no way of contacting them.

    1) I used some business contacts to track down the phone number for reception in Parade House, the building MSOLS Ltd (aka Mobile Rainbow) operate from. It's 01923 800000 and Esther the receptionist confirmed there had been serious phone problems for MSOLS and even she could not put calls through to them. But she was under the impression it was still business as usual for them and she took a message up to them for me, asking them to ring.

    2) I have spoken with Sanjeev, who identifies himself as the technical director, who actually called ME today. Their phone lines are back, try 0800 097 3651. By the way, this is not the first time they'd have problems with the phone system and I found out from BT earlier this year that BT do not host their phone system. I did find out who it was and spoke with them (have mislaid that info), apparently MSOLS maintain their own phone system and just rent the line.

    3) There can't be too many of them working there, as Sanjeev had to run to answer the 0800 phone when I tested it whilst also on the line to him on my mobile.

    4) I was originally attempting to contact MSOLS because they have only sent me 3 cash back vouchers instead of the 5 I am due. Sanjeev confirmed by phone that this would not affect my receiving cashback and to simply send my phone bills in when due. But they have still not responded to my letter about this sent in June.

    5) In view of the phone problems and lack of contact with MSOLS I have sent them a 7 day letter advising I would take legal action to recover the cashback amounts if I did not hear back from them. This letter was received /signed for but Sanjeev did not seem aware of it and seemed to think the phone problems prevented the company from replying. Hmmm. He promised I would be called back with a reply.

So my guess is they are a smallish outfit with a flaky phone system but are still trading at the moment and they talk as if they are intending to continue trading.

Hope this helps, and any other info would be helpful
