    Morning all,

Icy here, spent twenty minutes scraping the car before dropping DD at school. Today I shall be:

Going to the gym for my re-induction (doesn't sound very money saving but DH paid up front for it so not using it is worse!)

Going to Mr M's for a few bits.

    Washing/Drying and Ironing.

Dinner will be Pork chops, pots and veg.

    Lunch : ???

    Breakfast: ??

Would love to join the Facebook Group - and become friends with anyone that'll have me!!!!

Hugs to you all as always

MSH (aka Tracey Tolchard on Facebook)

That's wonderful! What kind of work? If you had to take your car to a garage I'm guessing you aren't a mechanic?! :rotfl:

Just spotted an interesting article about the need for parents to pass their cooking skills on to their kids. Fine idea in principle, I certainly wish someone had taught me - school, parents - anyone! I had to take over my family's meals at a youg age, ten or so, because of my mother's bad health, and most of what I learnt was by trial and error, from the magnificent big black Good Housekeeping bible, or my mum's magazines. So in theory I think the government are on the right lines by reviving cooking in schools and encouraging parents to teach their kids. Until I read what Ed Balls actually had to say:
"Many adults don't cook properly or pass on cooking skills to young people - because they feel they don't have time, have never learnt how or feel that proper cooking is too expensive."
Looks like the blind leading the blind is now official government policy :rotfl: I'm not quite sure how you can pass on what you never learnt yourself.

Oh well. I think it's high time we had OS bootcamps across the county!

    Edit: here's the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7869746.stm

I am actually considering speaking to the local adult education courses about how they should do one on how to live frugally.

I taught all four of my chidlren to cook, wash and iron........then I sat back and drank tea LOL not really I had my hands full looking after the 4 of them plus the biggest baby in the family (ex OH) and working whilst the children were in school.

I took my youngest daughters cookery teacher to task, they were teaching them to cook using convenience foods, I was not amused......I agree children should also be taught budgeting skills at school because a majority sure are not taught at home!!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

LOL, no not a mechanic although my dad did teach me to service my own cars, I'm an office administrator and they want someone in for a few hours a week to do invoicing etc.

It's not much but it's better than nothing which is exactly what I have at the moment!!

Even if it is only part time it might lead to something else - you never know.

Are you all right pet - I miss hearing about little bear and also your day. You have a real way with words.

No snow here yet but roads and pavements are still icy so have been staying in.

DD(15) very pleased as I made a huge tray of lasagne and a massive latticed apple flan as well for tonight.

Still gently encouraging DH to retire early but it would be easier if we could sell the house and have a new place to look forward to. No word from the viewers of a few weeks ago who were in a position to buy.

Fingers crossed for a "Spring bounce!"

Going to get changed into fluffy DG and then watch "Criminal Minds" with DD at 9p.m. Have managed to watch the latest episodes of "Hustle" on catchup so very pleased with myself.
    "This site is addictive!"
