Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Weds 4th Feb. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.

Good morning to all the OSer's

I am up and about not able to sleep too much pain.

Also cannot stop thinking about new job - had none - now offered two!!

Planning mushroom stroganoff for tea tonight and porridge for brekkie. Not sure about lunch just yet.

Hugs to all who need them and keep warm.

Hardly any snow here in South Gloucester so that is good for schools and travelling.

good morning hermione:D but sorry you can't sleep. I'm having trouble myself but not because of pain, just my brain won't switch off:rolleyes: I suppose going from no job to two job offers is a better problem to have;)

Tonight I started to transcribe all my recipes into a new recipe folder I got for Christmas. Was going fine until I realised I'd lost one somewhere. Now given that this is Aussie's recipe for carrot and sweet potato soup, and that as soon as she gets back from her cruise to NZ I can ask her for it again, can anyone tell me why I've been searching all my saved posts, scraps of paper, drawers, cupboards etc etc until my house looks like I've been visited by an army of burglars:o:o:rotfl:It's not like I was desperate to make it later today ( well not until I found I'd lost it:rolleyes:).

The snow seems to be melting so hopefully life will start getting back to normal later. It would be lovely if postie could make a visit, I've several outstanding letters and at least one parcel I'm expecting:D

Breakfast today will be toast if anything.
Lunch, a sandwich of some description?????
Dinner, Galette au Chou ( during my online searching I kept coming across this, and it's something we haven't had for weeks. I was drooling for it after the fifth or sixth reference:D) This is a recipe mentioned in Gingham Ribbon's Spring planner, but I'm on a new computer and couldn't copy the link:o Not quite as silly as it sounds, I've got a new one of these, not used apple before. It really is quite different;) It's DH's early birthday gift to me:D

Well feeling tireder now ( don't think that's a real word:o:rotfl:) so off to try and sleep. Hope everyone has a good day.

((((hugs)))) for those who'd like one.

    Good morning everyone!

Hermione and Churchmouse - hope you've managed to get some sleep, pain and brain overactivity aren't good for helping with that. It was my cough and a dry throat that woke me up.

So, I've been busy and moved some money about and paid the credit card bill for this month all done via phone banking at 3:10 am.... So, I wonder why I've got the Billy Joel song "in the middle of the night" going round in my head just now?! :D

I'll have to be up relatively early, as I'm taking DH's car into the garage tomorrow to get fixed - more money out :o but it needs doing as not being able to reverse is not good

I picked up some good items in the Co-op's RTC section for my freezer yesterday, so that's a few more meals taken into account, plus I got a dozen eggs for the price of a half dozen, as I used most of the ones I had in on Sunday when I baked some muffins and banana brownies :D

Tonight we're either going to have pasta or risotto made with the last lot of chicken from Sunday which will have made 3 meals and 6 portions of soup and fed the dog too ;)

I hope that everything is going okay for folk - that the snow hasn't caused you too many problems and that things are ticking along nicely?

    Have a good day everyone

Well, Im not up early )sorrry, punctuation on this keyboard is weird. THe only reason I{m up and here is because Im in a time zone 6 hours behind the UK.

SOme of you will know that I have come to Mexico at short notice to see my DD, with the idea of getting some sunshine to make me feel better. On the whole Im feeling much better. Its TUesday here still, setting off home on Friday, bit of trepidation there. DD has been given some time off to take me back to the airport on the bus, but Im just hoping that the good mood will last once Im back in the UK. Still on the med which will help.

I gather the weather has been bad. SOmeone was supposed to leave Heathrow to come to the centre here yesterday, but her flight didnt leave.

"see" you all when I get back. This is the first Internet Ive had since Ive been here and may be the last.

    Hope everyone is OK.

Hi Purpleivy - hope you are having a restful time. Yes, the weather has been a bit on the cold and snowy side back here!

Hermoine, Churchmouse and Nesssie - hope you all managed to get some sleep .

I woke up at around 4.15 - before the heating came on; I'm just starting to warm up now. I have a very fetching ensemble on - a full-length t-shirt dress, a full-length fleecy dressing gown and very long socks. Might not look that glamorous but it's lovely and warm.

DH is only working for a few hours today - he's putting in a French drain for someone locally but, as it's outside work and the snow hardly stopped yesterday, there's a limit to the amount of time he can stand the cold, and to the amount of proper daylight available. I was going to go food shopping this morning, but he has said he'll take me so I might as well hang on till he gets home. The roads have been very icy so I'd rather he did the driving.

Dinner tonight will be chicken casserole and pudding will be bananas and icecream, so that will be easy.

I've just checked the BBC local website and it looks as if both DILs' and the grandchildren's schools are open today so they will not be having another day off! DGS and DGD have really enjoyed the snow; it's been the first time they've had the real stuff. It's been great seeing so many children out and making the most of it. I can hardly believe how many snowman there are around the neighbourhood - many of them on the grass verges, keeping an eye on the traffic!

I shall be glad when the freezing temperatures have gone, though, and I can turn the heating down a bit.

I have lots of new friends on FB - it seems strange getting invites from people under their real names - I'm glad you have mentioned your MSE names!

Anyway, I'm off to put the kettle on again.

    Will call back later.

    Morning all,

Well went up to bed at 10 last night, and slept right through until 6 this morning, so I feel great, sorry to hear some of you can't sleep.

Kathy, I too look very glam, in jogging bottoms, and and old sweatshirt, with thick walking socks :o .

I made up a chicken concoction yesterday, which I will shove in the sc this morning, its chicken, lentils, onion, tin of toms, sweetcorn and a fahita packet mix, goodness knows what it will taste like but it smells nice, I will report back.

Off to work today, which will be busy, I prefer that as the time will go faster, rubbish to go out this morning, I will swish and swipe before work.

Lots of new people on FB which is great, its nice to meet you all.

R-mac any news on that baby yet ????

Take care all, and have good days all xx

Morning. Just checking in before work. Late as my internet was playing up.

Car is broke too, so not sure how I am getting to work, need to call and scrounge a life from someone. New alternator needed, but does not get delivered till Thursday. Bummer and £120 too. At least my neighbour will fit it for free.

    Must go, very late

    Cheers

  • Morning everyone

Work today, so not much to report, need to run the iron over DD's school trousers in a mo.

We had a bit of snow on Monday, but nothing much and it had all disapeared by yesterday.

Breakfast will be toasted hot cross buns, lunch last night's leftovers for me, bagels for DD and DH, tea will be roast chicken, roast pots, swede and carrot, peas, gravy and bread sauce.

DD has Guides tonight, I ordered her new Guide t-shirt and it arrived on Monday :T so she will be wearing that tonight.

Have a lovely day everyone (((((hugs)))))
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Havnt caught up on the thread last few days so ((((hugs)))) to anyone who needs them.

Yesterdays thread made me laugh, I don't get birds in my garden, probably because we have 2 pairs of kites locally, they do look beautiful soaring over head though, I get my fair share if t*ts, though they are just staff members, lol.
Icy here again, I'm so tempted to stay home, but I better slide my way into school & freeze for a few hours, it's ok saying admin have to do a full day, but when the canteen is closed (which means no hot drinks) & the heating isn't working, it seems a bit unfair.
Welcome LittleAnna & well done to SS for sewing on a button.
    Breakfast - porridge
    Lunch - turkey sandwich
Tea - Toad in the hole
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester
