    I've been Money Tipped!
I have liked most of my holidays. The best for me have been:

    Barcelona
    Prague
    Berlin
    Cornwall
North Wales (around the Snowdon area) - I just love it there
    Amsterdam
    Bruges
    Antwerp

I did not like Paris. I have been there 4 times because each time I go and hate it people tell me I must have gone to the wrong places because it so beautiful. Well I have been to literally all the places in Paris now and still think it is horrible. I don't know how it can be described as a city for lovers!

I also hated Glasgow. Ok the weather for the 4 days was awful. It absolutely poured non stop and was really really windy (tons of flights were cancelled because of the wind) but I just did not like it there. Was one of the only times I really could not wait to leave - I actually got to the airport 7 hours early to see if I could get an earlier flight.

Forgot to say I have spent loads of weekends in London (I used to live there) and have always enjoyed them. I love London - it's a million times nicer than Paris

Best: Northern Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Crete, Majorca, Madeira - for weather, cheap good simple food and day-walks on marked paths through stunning scenery (buy a Landscapes walking guide and a local bus ticket and you're off!)

Worst: Limassol Cyprus - ugly resort dominated by roads and pedestrian-unfriendly, suicidal driving, incomprehensible public transport, poor quality food (most fish frozen), Brit and military dominated, oppressive sense of political polarisation of island

Hoping... Cuba (Varaderos and a bit of touring)

I'm surprised at the amount of people slating Cyprus, IMHO its one of the best places on the med.
Its hot & the beaches & sea on the east side are awesome (not keen on the west myself Pathos I didn't rate). Ayia Napa is not somewhere I would want to stay, but its nice for a day trip & just outside Pernera towards Paralimni are some lovely spots.
Like Greece too, especially Crete, similar to Cyprus.

Likewise Turkey has some lovely parts, went through Kusadassi once (to Effeuses) & thought it AWFUL, but the Bodrum peninsular & the region served by Dalaman airport are GORGEOUS.

I have noticed that Cyprus in particular, seems to polarise your views. You either love it,or hate it,there doesnt seem to be middle ground. I hated it,and wouldn't return, and I cant put my finger on why. Part of the reason was that when we travelled into the interior,it looked like Beirut, barren, and scarred. Limmassol was awful too.

Just not for me,but clearly others absolutely love it. Now,Crete,Corfu etc were not at all like that. Maybe we were just unlucky in the places we chose to go?
  • Best - hard to choose between Hawaii, Las Vegas, Javea or Koh Samui.

Worst - San Antonio Bay in Ibiza, Los Angeles, Rome, Pattaya

  • Best; Ponta Negra in Brazil, followed by south of France, and a few of the greek islands.

Worst; Los Christianos in Tenerife (awful) followed by Malta and I can't really say why. Maybe will try it again sometime.

Someone else that has enjoyed Costa Rica. Quick go there before all the Brits arrive on package holidays through Thomas Cook!
